For many children in Finland, summer holidays have now begun, and families across the country are starting their holiday season. Instead of looking far away, there is so much to discover close to home, and Ruissalo is one of those places that makes a few days in Finland feel special.
Just outside Turku, Ruissalo brings together old oak forests, shoreline paths, beaches, cafés, historic villas, and easy routes for walking or cycling. It works beautifully for families, with Saaronniemi beach, the Botanical Garden, summer cafés, and even Moomin World in Naantali within reach.
Set on the island, Honkala offers a historic wooden villa surrounded by nature, with space for slow summer days, sauna, outdoor meals, games, and time together. A different side of Turku, and a lovely reminder of how much there is to explore in Finland.
