Doing art has always been the meaning of life for Samih Qanber and Barkat Albaali. When samih was 16 he learned that there is no chance for him in getting to the art school because he is not in Saddam Hussein’s political party. Samih studied to be a Shef and worked in restaurants and Barkat is also studying and working in the culinary business. Today Samih and Barakat are doing what they love, AR

T. They did have to leave their home in Iraq for the first time in 2004. Then their home was taken over and destroyed. Before leaving Iraq Samih and Barakat were kidnapped and badly abused. Samih and Barakat are living in Finland today but they are unsure for the future because they got a negative decision to stay in Finland. Returning in Iraq is not an option says Barkat; “In Finland I have got back my believe in good and have met so many people who are fighting for the same rights with me”.
