🌍 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: Maria Laamanen, Senior Ministerial Adviser at the Ministry of the Environment of Finland works across national, regional, EU, and global levels to advance marine protection, ocean governance and the sustainable use of marine resources.

As Programme Manager of the Ahti Water and Marine Protection Programme and Chair of the Board of the FINMARI Finnish Marine Research Infrastructure consortium, Maria plays a key role in connecting research, policy, and practical action. With a background as a scientist and a career dedicated to healthier marine environments, she brings a unique perspective on how knowledge can be translated into effective decision-making.

Her work focuses on strengthening cooperation between governments, researchers, and stakeholders to address some of the most pressing challenges facing our Seas, from marine biodiversity and ecosystem health to international ocean governance.

🏭 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗮 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆: Panu Routila, CEO at Patria, is one of Finland’s most experienced industrial leaders, with a career spanning international business, technological transformation, and growth.

Before becoming CEO of Patria, Panu served as Chair of the company's Board and has previously led major international organizations including Konecranes and Ahlström Capital. Throughout his career, he has focused on scaling businesses, strengthening competitiveness, and turning technological innovation into commercial success.

Today, he leads Patria's growth across its core business areas while navigating a rapidly evolving technology landscape. ⚓ Meet our Nordic Blue 2026 startup: RedGet.io - Port & Maritime Tech for Sustainable Future a maritime data solutions startup. They design, build, and operate data acquisition, processing, analytics, and AI systems for ports, terminals, vessel operators, and logistics operators. RedGet deliver both off-the-shelf products and custom-engineered solutions — covering emission data management, port operational intelligence, maritime data infrastructure, supply chain analytics, and maritime ESG data. They own the full stack from the data pipeline to the AI layer.

Maritime moves 90% of global trade and remains one of the least digitized industries on earth. Vessel movements, port operations, cargo flows, and emission footprints are largely siloed, manually managed, and updated every few years by external consultants.

At the same time, regulatory pressure has shifted from future target to present-day cost centre: EU ETS is now a live P&L line item for every major operator, IMO net-zero framework enters force in 2027 with a binding carbon price from 2028, and ports face parallel mandates under CSRD, AFIR, and FuelEU Maritime to build data capabilities they simply don't have today. The maritime digitization market sits at $175 billion and is projected to reach $395 billion by 2033. Maritime AI alone is compounding at 40.6% CAGR.

Yet maritime receives three times less venture capital than its share of global GDP would justify. The window to become the default data intelligence provider for this sector is open right now.
