Concerned about your soil health???

Here, at Millennial Sustainable Consultant - Fiji, we conduct soil test analysis on total Nitrogen, Phosphate and Potassium plus their ionic species.

Other tests include , EC, Total Disssolve Solids and pH. Final report includes the overall status of the soil samples and any recommendations for improvement - eg, pH corrector, fertilizer application etc.

Its been awhile since my last update.. we’ve been busy meeting with clients and making sure all the three pillars of sustainability are met ie. the economy, the people and the environment.

Topic of the day:

1. Terms of Reference (TOR)
This is the requirement by the Department of Environment in which we base our work and charges from.

According to the Environment Management Act 2005 and the EIA Process Regulation 2007; proponents can be issued 2 conditions in their TOR (usually conducted by an independent consultant)

1. To conduct full EIA process
2. To conduct an Environmental Management Plan (EMP)- this will only be applied when #1 is ruled out by the Director Environment.

Based on the nature of the development, an EMP has 3 General categories:

a. If you have already started your business and lacks an EMP, you will be required to produce an Operational Environmental Management Plan (OEMP)

b. In terms of Construction, you will be required to produce a Construction Environment Management Plan (CEMP)

c. In case of logging activity or minning etc, where large alteration of land and natural environment is made, you will be required an Environment Management Plan (EMP)

All EMP’s are written by a registered consultants only and no one else.

Agreement for land lease, approved engineering certificate, approved achitectural design, approved plan from council together with town and country planning, and lastly public consultation meeting (very important) at DoE.
