THE OLDER I GET, THE MORE I REALISE THAT TIME WITH FAMILY IS SOMETHING MONEY CAN’T BUY BACK.

As a wife, mother and grandmother, some of my happiest moments now are actually the simplest ones.

Sitting together.

Sharing food.

Going somewhere with the family.

Spending time with my grandson.

No rushing. No watching the clock.

Those moments have changed what the word “freedom” means to me.

It's not about doing nothing.

It's about having more say over when I work, where I work and who gets the best hours of my day.

Because our children grow.

Our grandchildren grow even faster.

And one thing we can never save up and use later is TIME.

That's why I'm building differently in this season of my life.

I want an income, yes.

But I also want to be present for the people I'm building it for.

For me, that's the real reason behind wanting more choices.

I’M NOT BUILDING THIS BECAUSE I WANT TO BE BUSY AGAIN.

I already know what being busy feels like. 😂

I'm building an online business because I want more control over my time and more choices for my future.

And no, it hasn't been perfect.

I've had days when technology confused me.

Days when things didn't happen as quickly as I hoped.

Days when I questioned myself.

But every time I learn something new, I remind myself:

I am building something of my own.

Something I can work on around my life instead of arranging my whole life around work.

That's a very different feeling.

So if you're a woman approaching retirement and you've been quietly thinking,

“There must be another way…”

Maybe don't ignore that thought.

Explore it.

Ask questions.

Learn.

You don't have to change your whole life today. But you can make one decision today that begins to change your tomorrow.

WHAT’S THE POINT OF HAVING MORE TIME IF WE’RE TOO TIRED TO ENJOY IT?

As I get older, I'm becoming much more conscious of something I probably took for granted when I was younger — my health.

These days, I appreciate simple things.

A walk.
A good meal.
Rest.
Laughing with family.
Being able to slow down when my body tells me to.

For years, many of us women have been rushing from one responsibility to another.

Work. Home. Children. Bills. Family commitments.

We tell ourselves, “I'll rest later.”

But I don't want my later years to simply be about recovering from my working years.

I want to LIVE them.

That's one reason time freedom has become so important to me.

Money matters, yes.

But having the freedom to look after yourself, be present with the people you love and actually enjoy your days?

That kind of wealth means a lot to me now.

IF YOU’RE THINKING ABOUT RETIREMENT, DON’T ONLY PREPARE YOUR MONEY. PREPARE YOUR LIFE.

Here's something I've learned.

We spend years preparing financially for retirement, but sometimes we forget to ask what our actual days will look like.

What will you wake up for?

What will keep you active?

What will give you purpose?

And if your retirement income isn't quite enough for the lifestyle you want, what other options have you created for yourself?

My little tip today:

Take a piece of paper and write down these 3 things:

❤️ How do I want to spend my time?
❤️ Who do I want to spend more time with?
❤️ What could I start learning NOW that might give me more choices later?

Don't wait until retirement to answer those questions.

Start designing that life while you're still earning and still have choices.

I DIDN’T START BECAUSE I KNEW EVERYTHING. I STARTED BECAUSE I WANTED SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

When I first looked at starting an online business, I wasn't a technology expert.

I was simply a wife, a mother and a grandmother thinking about the next chapter of my life.

For many years, work and responsibilities came first. Like many women, I just kept going because that's what we do.

But deep inside, I wanted something different.

More time with my family. More flexibility. More choices about how I spend my days.

So I started learning.

Slowly.
One lesson at a time.
One mistake at a time. 😂

And I'm still learning today.

That's why I have a soft spot for women who tell me, “I don't think I can do something online.”

Because I understand.

You don't have to know everything before you begin.

Sometimes you just need enough courage to take the first step.

DON’T WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE NO CHOICE.

One thing retirement has taught me is that we often think we have plenty of time.

“I’ll do it later.”
“Maybe when things settle down.”
“I’m too old to start something new.”

But later has a way of arriving very quickly.

As women, we spend so many years looking after everyone else — our children, our husbands, our homes, our work and all the responsibilities that come with life.

Then one day we look at ourselves and ask:

“What choices am I creating for ME?”

That question changed the way I think.
Oh!
I don’t want age to decide when I stop dreaming.
I don’t want circumstances to decide how I spend my time.

And I certainly don't want to wait until I desperately need another option before I start looking for one.

Sometimes one decision today can give you more choices tomorrow. ❤️

I remember sitting in traffic one morning on my way to work when that thought suddenly hit me.

I was giving so much of my time, energy and life to building someone else’s dream—but what was I doing about my own?

It was confronting, especially knowing that retirement would eventually come and the regular paycheque would stop.

That moment reminded me that 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲—𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱.

So I decided to start learning, building and creating something of my own, one small step at a time.
