It’s been a long and lovely summer, designing, styling and writing about some gorgeous sensory spaces.

I marked the end of today with a glorious swim in the sea. Feeling ready for autumn and some exciting new projects.

I hope you all had a lovely bank holiday weekend.

🌿 Does your home give you what you need?⁣

We spend a lot of time thinking about how our homes look. But I’m far more interested in how they make us feel.⁣

Does your home help you switch off? Can you focus when you need to? Does it feel comfortable, uplifting, calm?⁣

Light, sound, colour, texture and even the things we surround ourselves with are constantly being processed by our senses.⁣

Sometimes the simplest place to start is just to notice. Sit in the room you use most and ask yourself:⁣

What can I see? What can I hear and what can I feel? You might be surprised by what you notice. ⁣

🌿 I’m sharing more simple ways to understand how your home is affecting the way you feel in The Sensory Home newsletter.⁣

🌿 Visual Learning

This room started life as a playroom. Today, it’s an art studio by day and a snug by night.

One of the biggest design decisions was covering an entire wall in natural cork from

Yes, it’s a commitment because it’s fixed to the wall, but we knew it would be used for years to come.

One thing I’ve learnt about sensory design is that the best design decisions solve more than one problem. This wall creates somewhere to pin artwork, process revision notes and develop ideas.

As a visual learner myself, I know I understand information better when it’s out in front of me rather than hidden away in a folder..

The cork also helps dampen sound, making the room feel quieter, while its natural texture adds warmth and strengthens the connection to nature that runs throughout the space.

Thank you to for helping bring this idea to life.

🌿 What do you think?

🌿 Would you wallpaper your ceiling?

It’s probably not the first place you’d think to add a mural…

But for this project, it made perfect sense.

The brief was to transform a children’s playroom into a teenager’s art studio by day and a snug by night. Most importantly, it needed to feel calm and connected to nature.

Rather than leaving the ceiling plain white, we chose Whispering Grove by

Looking up, you’re surrounded by trees, water and greenery, bringing nature into the room in an unexpected way.

And let’s be honest… teenagers spend a lot of time lying on the sofa, so why not give them something beautiful to look at?

The walls are painted in Uluwatu Green from the Paint for Wellness collection by × , creating a calm backdrop for the space.

Sometimes it’s the unexpected design decisions that make the biggest difference to how a room feels.

🌿 From playroom - to snug & art studio...

Swipe to see where this room started.

Creating a multifunctional room is something that we are probably all familiar with - a room that can serve more than one purpose. That’s exactly what this home makeover needed to achieve.

Once a playroom, this room needed to transform into an art studio by day and a snug by night.

The snug needed to be not overly styled, just comfortable, but what does ‘comfort’ look like? For us, this comes in many forms: lighting, colours, materials, acoustics and a feeling of enclosure.

We chose a gorgeous mural called Jungle Vista in Soft Green, part of the Graham & Brown collection.

When we asked our decorator to put the mural on the ceiling, he was a little perplexed but our reasoning was twofold.

We wanted to recreate the feeling of a forest canopy as if the trees are surrounding you. Secondly, teenagers do a lot of lounging around and lying down, so having a forest to look up at while watching TV felt rather cool!

We complemented the mural with deep and calming Uluwatu Green (from our Pippa Jameson x Graham & Brown Paint for Wellness collection. Green is known to help calm the central nervous system and allow the body to feel more relaxed - so perfect for a snug.

The lighting by night is warm, dimmable and layered with side and floor lamps. The Venetian blinds help control the light but also provide privacy, creating a feeling of enclosure.

The sofa has far too many cushions and throws, as it should be, so that you can lose yourself in them.

More to come on this project soon - next, we’ll reveal the amazing cork board from Portuguese Treasures Ltd and the studio area of the room.

Let me know what you think of the makeover in the comments 😊

🌟 3 things I've learnt about building a brand...⁣

1. Don't say yes to everything.⁣
Not every opportunity is the right one. It might pay well or have a big name behind it, but if it doesn't align with your values or where you're trying to take your brand, it's okay to say no.⁣

2. Know when to ask for help.⁣
You can't be an expert in everything. Marketing, finance, design, writing... there comes a point where asking for help and favours allows you to focus on the things only you can do.⁣

3. Don't be afraid of failure.⁣
Some of my biggest opportunities have come from things that didn't work out. Learn from them, adapt, and keep moving forward.⁣

Building a brand isn't about getting everything right. Believe me, I've made plenty of mistakes, and I'm still learning. But if there's one thing I've learnt, it's essential to stay true to what you believe in and don't lose sight of what your brand stands for. 💚⁣

🌟 Room Transformation

For the past few months, we’ve been quietly working on a very special room transformation.

What started life as a children’s playroom had gradually become a bit of a dumping ground. Now, it’s being reimagined as a teenager’s art studio and chill-out space.

As our children grow, the way they use their rooms changes too. This space needed to work much harder – somewhere that feels inspiring and practical for creating art, while also offering a calm, cosy retreat to relax, unwind and, perhaps most importantly... escape the parents!

As always, every design decision has been guided by the sensory experience, creating a space that feels connected to nature while encouraging creativity, calm and wellbeing.

A huge thank you to for supplying the incredible cork wall, which has become one of my favourite features in the room.

We also used paint from our Paint for Wellness collection, helping to create a space that feels cocooning and restorative.

I can’t wait to show you the finished transformation.
Coming soon... 🌿

🏡 One thing the French do so beautifully is rustic charm.⁣

We recently spent a few days in Colmar, and I was completely captivated by its beauty. Sitting close to the German border, the town is a blend of French and German influences.⁣

What stood out most to me was the way colour had been used. Not just across entire buildings, but in smaller, more considered details; border window frames, bright benches, half-painted walls, soft contrasts against aged timber and weathered stone. ⁣

Every street had small layered details that felt playful and full of character. This is what I love about colour: it doesn't have to dominate a space. Sometimes, a carefully placed block of colour is enough to guide the eye, create a mood or statement and make a place feel memorable 💚.⁣

🌟 The Sensory Home featured in The Standard⁣

Just back from a few weeks away, and this was such a lovely piece of press to come home to.⁣

For years, The Sensory Home® has been talking about the importance of sensory design and how our homes can affect our senses, nervous system and overall wellbeing.⁣

So I’m incredibly proud to be featured throughout this in-depth piece in The Standard, which explores whether the spaces we live in are supporting us — or quietly working against us.⁣

The feature also includes The Sensory Home® x Paint for Wellness Collection.⁣

If you’re in London today, grab yourself a free copy of The Standard and see whether your home is working for you — or against you.⁣

Thank you to Prudence Ivey and The Standard for such a thoughtful feature.⁣

You can also read it online via the link in my bio.
