Journey to Purpose – Chapter 16: You Were Created for More

Sometimes we become so comfortable with where we are that we stop believing there's something greater ahead.

Life has a way of convincing us to play it safe, stay in our comfort zone, and postpone the dreams that have been quietly waiting in our hearts.

But what if the life you're living today is only one chapter of the story God is writing?

I've come to realize that every experience, every victory, every setback, every season of waiting has been preparing us for something bigger than we can see.

You were never created to simply exist.
You were created to grow.
To serve.
To inspire.
To make a difference.

And perhaps the dream that's been stirring in your heart isn't there by accident.

It's there for a reason.

As I reflected on this moment by the sea in Nice, France, I was reminded that the horizon always stretches farther than our eyes can see. The same is true for our lives. God's plans are often bigger than the limits we place on ourselves.

Maybe today is your reminder that you were created for more.

"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago." — Ephesians 2:10

Give Yourself Permission to Dream Again

For years, many of us become so focused on responsibilities that we quietly stop dreaming.

We work. We care for our families. We build careers. We meet expectations. We become the person others can depend on.

And somewhere along the way, the dreams we once carried are placed on a shelf.

Not because they no longer matter—but because life became busy.

Sometimes, we convince ourselves that dreaming belongs to the young. That at a certain point in life, we should simply be grateful for what we have, stay where we are comfortable, and stop asking whether there might still be something more.

But what if there is?

I am learning that gratitude and dreaming can exist together.

We can be deeply thankful for the life we have built while still believing that God may have more for us to do.

A new dream does not erase the value of everything that came before it. Sometimes, it is simply an invitation to grow into the next version of who God created us to become.

Perhaps the dream in your heart is there for a reason.

Perhaps the idea that keeps returning deserves your attention.

You do not need to have everything figured out today. You do not need to know exactly how the dream will unfold.

Sometimes, the first step is simply giving yourself permission to believe again.

Dream again. Pray again. Believe again.

God is not finished writing your story.

Journey to Purpose — Chapter 15

The Courage to Begin Again

There comes a time in life when we realize that beginning again does not mean we have failed.

Sometimes, it simply means we have grown.

We spend years building a life—working, caring for others, fulfilling responsibilities, and becoming the person everyone depends on.

We become so busy living the life in front of us that we sometimes forget to ask ourselves:

Is there still something more that God is calling me to do?

Beginning again can be frightening.

It means stepping beyond what is familiar. It means becoming a beginner when we are used to being experienced. It means taking a chance without knowing exactly where the journey will lead.

But I am learning that there is no expiration date on purpose.

God can place a new dream in your heart at any stage of life. He can awaken a gift that has been quiet for years. He can open a new door when you thought all the important doors had already opened.

And beginning again does not mean leaving your past behind.

You bring everything with you—the lessons, the struggles, the victories, the disappointments, the wisdom, and the faith that carried you through every season before this one.

Perhaps starting over is not really starting from nothing.

Perhaps it is starting again with experience.

If there is something in your heart that you have been afraid to pursue because you think it is too late, remember this:

It is never too late to begin again.

Not every new beginning needs to be dramatic. Sometimes it starts with one decision. One prayer. One conversation. One small step toward the life God has been quietly preparing you for.

The question is not, “Am I too late?”

Perhaps the better question is:

“What if this is exactly the right time?”

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”
— Isaiah 43:19

Reflection
Is there something you have been postponing because you believe the time has passed? What if this is your season to begin again?

I am learning that purpose is not limited by age, timing, or the chapters that have already been written.

Sometimes, the most beautiful part of the story begins when we finally find the courage to turn the page.

Journey to Purpose — Chapter 14

When the Path Changes

Life rarely follows the path we carefully planned.

We make plans. We set goals. We imagine how our lives should unfold. Then, sometimes without warning, the road changes.

A door closes.
A plan falls apart.
An opportunity takes us somewhere unexpected.
A season ends before we are ready.

And suddenly, we find ourselves asking, “Is this still the right path?”

I am learning that a change in direction does not always mean we are lost. Sometimes, it is exactly how God redirects us toward where we are meant to be.

There have been moments in my own journey when life did not unfold the way I expected. At the time, I questioned the delays, the detours, and the unexpected turns. But looking back, I can see that some of those changes were not interruptions to my journey.

They were part of the journey.

We often want God to give us the entire map. But faith asks something different of us. Faith asks us to trust Him at the crossroads, to listen when the direction changes, and to believe that His purpose is greater than the plans we made for ourselves.

Perhaps the path you are on today looks different from the one you imagined years ago.

That does not mean your purpose has disappeared.

Perhaps God is not changing your purpose at all.
Perhaps He is simply changing the road that will take you there.

So when the path changes, do not be afraid to follow where God leads. Some of life's most meaningful destinations are reached through roads we never planned to travel.

A change in direction does not mean a change in purpose.

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
— Proverbs 16:9

Journey to Purpose – Chapter 13

Keep Walking

There are seasons in life when we pray for clarity before taking the next step. We want to know where the road will lead, how long the journey will take, and whether everything will turn out the way we hope.

But faith does not always come with a map.

Sometimes, God simply asks us to keep walking.

After learning to trust the process, we must also learn to move forward—even when we cannot see the entire journey ahead. Waiting on God does not always mean standing still. Sometimes, it means continuing to pray, continuing to grow, continuing to serve, and continuing to take faithful steps while trusting Him with the outcome.

The road may feel long. There may be delays, detours, and moments when we question whether we are heading in the right direction. But not every slow season means we are lost. Not every delay means we have been forgotten.

Sometimes, God is preparing the road ahead while He is preparing us for what awaits there.

I am learning that purpose is not discovered in one dramatic moment. More often, it unfolds through small acts of obedience, quiet perseverance, and the courage to take one more step.

So, if the journey feels uncertain today, keep walking.

If progress feels slower than you hoped, keep walking.

If you have prayed and the answer has not yet come, keep walking in faith.

You may not know exactly where the road will lead, but you can trust that God is already there.

Keep walking. God is already ahead of you.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

What faithful step can you take today, even if you cannot yet see where the entire journey will lead?

May we have the faith to keep moving, the patience to trust God's timing, and the courage to believe that every faithful step is leading us closer to the purpose He has prepared for us.

Journey to Purpose – Chapter 12
Trusting the Process

From this view, every road appears connected. Highways merge, bridges span great distances, and every route seems to have a purpose.

Life, however, is different.

We rarely see the entire journey. We experience one step, one decision, one season at a time. There are moments when the road ahead is hidden by uncertainty, delays, or unexpected detours. Yet while our vision is limited, God's is not. He sees every turn before we arrive and every destination long before we recognize it.

That is why faith is not about having all the answers. Faith is choosing to trust the One who already knows the way.

The process is often where God does His greatest work. Through waiting, He teaches patience. Through challenges, He builds character. Through closed doors, He redirects our steps toward something greater than we could have planned ourselves.

If you are walking through a season where the next step is unclear, remember this: God is not asking you to see the whole path—only to trust the One who does.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."
— Proverbs 3:5–6

Chapter 11 – The First Step of Faith

"Every journey begins with one faithful step."

Yesterday, I asked a simple question:

"What would you do if nothing held you back?"

Today, I'd like to ask a different question.

What's one faithful step you can take toward the life God is calling you to live?

So often, we wait until we have every answer before we move. We want certainty, a detailed plan, and the reassurance that everything will work out.

But throughout my life, I've learned that God rarely reveals the entire journey. He simply asks us to trust Him with the next step.

As I look back, many of the greatest blessings in my life didn't begin with certainty. They began with a decision to trust.

One conversation.

One opportunity.

One prayer.

One "yes."

One faithful step.

Whether it was becoming a critical care nurse, stepping into leadership, speaking to audiences, or embracing new opportunities, each chapter of my life began with taking one step before I could see the whole path.

Perhaps that's where you are today.

Maybe you've been praying for direction.

Maybe you've been waiting for the "perfect" time.

Maybe God isn't asking you to see the whole journey.

Maybe He's simply asking you to trust Him with the next step.

Today, I encourage you to take that one faithful step—even if it's small. You never know how God will use one act of obedience to lead you into the life He has prepared for you.

Chapter 10: The Freedom Question

This morning's sunrise reminded me that every new day is an invitation from God—a chance to begin again, to dream again, and to trust Him again.

As I watched the light slowly break through the clouds, one question settled in my heart...

What would you do if nothing held you back?

Not what others expect of you.
Not what fear tells you is impossible.
Not what your circumstances seem to allow.

But what has God quietly placed in your heart?

For many years, I believed that success meant working harder, sacrificing more, and always putting everyone else first. I am deeply grateful for my nursing career and the privilege of serving others.
Yet along the way, I've discovered something equally important:

True wealth isn't measured by what we own.

It's measured by the freedom to live with purpose, peace, and presence.
Freedom to spend time with those we love.
Freedom to serve others without constant worry.
Freedom to say "yes" when God opens a new door.
Freedom to live the life He has prepared for us.

Perhaps the life you've been praying for doesn't begin with having all the answers.

Perhaps it begins with asking the question God has been waiting for you to ask.

Chapter 9: The Lesson I Almost Missed

For years, I believed success was measured by promotions, accomplishments, awards, and checking every box.

And don't get me wrong...

I'm grateful for every opportunity I've been given.

Leading incredible teams.

Caring for critically ill patients.

Speaking at conferences.

Mentoring future leaders.

Each experience has shaped who I am today.

But somewhere along the way, I realized something.

Success isn't just about what you achieve.

It's about who you're becoming.

The older I get, the more I value things that can't be measured by a résumé.

Peace.

Time.

Purpose.

Freedom to make choices that align with the life God is calling me to live.

Maybe that's why this new chapter feels different.

It isn't about chasing something.

It's about answering a calling.

And I have a feeling the best chapters are still ahead.
