A most modern designer, in PaperCity Dallas

As Andrée Putman Studio marks the centenary of Andrée Putman’s birth with the opening of its first U.S. base in New York, the story also reconnects with Texas, and Dallas, where the Studio has completed a few projects over the years.
Now firmly established in the U.S., the Studio continues to develop bespoke interiors for private and institutional clients, alongside reissues of Andrée Putman’s iconic designs and new collections, with hopes of returning to Dallas for a new chapter.

How does a studio carry forward the legacy of its founder? For Andrée Putman Studio, it means revisiting the language established by its founder and finding new ways to interpret it. Designed in 2023, ten years after Andrée Putman’s passing, the Reflet Cartésien mirror draws on the stained-glass compositions of two of her emblematic architectural projects, translating them from architecture into object.

“Madame, we’re going to create a staircase like your necklace.”

In 1996, Hélène Pastor entrusted Andrée Putman with the redesign of the Gildo Pastor Center in Monaco. Inspired by Mrs. Pastor’s diamond bar necklace, the staircase became the vertical heart of the building — connecting its spaces and setting the rhythm of the entire project.

Light, volume, repetition, movement: each step becomes part of a carefully choreographed sequence.

As Monaco Yacht Week begins, a look at one of the studio’s most emblematic projects.

Imagined in 1984 for the CAPC Musée d’art contemporain de Bordeaux project, the Lune floor lamp transforms light into an architectural element. Its simple geometry creates a quiet presence, where function and atmosphere meet.

The Lune floor lamp is part of a re-edition of more than 300 pieces designed by Andrée Putman, made available today by the Andrée Putman Studio.
