Gospel: John 1:1-18

And the word was with God and the Word was God

The passage today teaches about the word that was made flesh. In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God. He was in the beginning with God.

God sent John the Baptist to bear witness and to introduce Jesus as the light of the world. God the Father’s plan was fulfilled. He prepared the people for the coming of Jesus by sending like John the Baptist for us to be ready.

Lord, we are forever grateful for sending Your Son Jesus to save us. Your promise of the coming of eternal Word into the world. May we always welcome Jesus, the Word Incarnate, in our minds and hearts. Grant us the courage to be like John, God’s instrument in proclaiming the good news. Amen.

To enlighten them that sit in darkness…to direct our feet into the way of peace

As Christmas day draws very near, we hear today Zechariah’s prophecy of the Lord’s coming

Salvation is at hand. God fulfills His promise to send His Son Jesus to redeem mankind from sin and be reconciled to Him. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life". - John 3:16

Dear Father in heaven, thank You for Your great love for us. Please help us to be worthy of Your unconditional love, and to reciprocate this with humble obedience and faithfulness to Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.

Faith Over Fear

In today's gospel, Jesus warns us of the many distractions that can weigh down our hearts, preventing us from preparing our hearts for the coming of Jesus. Amidst all the chaos and distractions, Jesus calls us to respond with courage and faith and remain hopeful to God's promise of salvation and His unending love and presence in our lives.

Lord, in a world full of chaos and uncertainty, help me to stand firm in faith and trust in Your promises. Help me be alert at all times and free me from distractions, so I can always be ready to welcome You with hope and joy. Amen.
