A Sunday well-spent brings a week of content 😊😋
And boy, did we have a good Sunday with a 3-course lunch at by ! For those who may not know, Chris appeared on Masterchef The Professionals in 2022 and made a big impact, reaching the semi finals. He has a glittering career behind him too, earning his stripes under Raymond Blanc, as well as heading up successful kitchens around the region as an Executive Head Chef, and following his stint on the telly, Chris launched exciting pop-ups and private dining, as well as a kickstarter to launch his own restaurant. And the rest, they say, is history.
We booked this ages ago as part of the kickstarter and it was amazing to see the months and months of hard work come to fruition for Chris and the team.
So what was ordered? A delightful dinner of Tuscan calimari to start for me and a blue cheese soufflé for my husband, black pudding bhajis for my brother, garlic king prawns for my sis-in-law, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding for all, and rhubarb cheesecake, tiramisu with amaretto gel and Chris’ famous Masterchef Chocolate Cake with pink custard for dessert. The main course came with a selection of lovely veg accompaniments, including cauli cheese, carrot and swede mash, fine beans, carrots and more. I really couldn’t fault a thing!
The place is small but charming and cosy, the staff are warm, friendly and attentive, and the price is right… just £27.50 for 3 courses.
Great to see a local indie thriving and bringing something totally unique to Birtley, a place that isn’t exactly renowned for its culinary prowess! Great work to Chris and the team, we had a lovely afternoon and will certainly be back 👏
