🌳Mature Oak Tree Reduction & Bracing – Burley, New Forest 🌳

We recently carried out a heavy reduction and bracing of this mature oak in Burley after identifying a significant crack in the main stem.

Rather than removing the tree, we opted for a veteranisation approach — reducing weight throughout the canopy and installing bracing to help support the structure and prolong the tree’s life.

This not only improves safety but also retains valuable habitat for wildlife, which is especially important in areas like the New Forest 🐿️🪶

📉 The most important result – the crack has reduced following the work, relieving stress on the stem.

🛠️ If the tree were to fail in the future, the reduction ensures it would not impact the nearby stables.

We’ll continue to monitor the tree over the coming years to ensure it remains safe and stable.

🌳 Ash Tree Dismantles Completed in Hurstbourne Priors 🌳

We recently carried out the dismantling of two Ash trees in Hurstbourne Priors.
Due to their size and location along the boundary and near the road, the trees were carefully dismantled in sections, ensuring everything was brought down safely and in a controlled manner.

All arisings were processed on site, with timber stacked neatly and the area left clean and tidy. The site is now ready for stump grinding to fully clear the area.

Ash trees are becoming increasingly common for removal due to decline and structural concerns from Ash Dieback, so it’s important to deal with them safely and professionally.

This self-seeded sycamore had established itself far too close to a property, with the root system beginning to lift and crack the tarmac pathway.

The canopy had also grown tight against the house and roof guttering, creating the potential for future structural damage if left unmanaged.

The tree was carefully dismantled and removed, eliminating the risk to the pathway and nearby property.

🌳 Willow Pollard Carried Out for Safety 🌳

We recently carried out a pollard reduction on a mature willow tree at The Waterwitch in Odiham after a large cavity of approximately 6ft was discovered at the base of the tree.

Due to the tree’s location within the pub garden and close to the canal, the works were necessary to reduce weight and ensure the safety of the public and surrounding area.

Careful dismantling techniques were required, with rigging used to lower branches in a controlled manner, preventing any damage to nearby fencing or the canal boats below.

Despite the tight working area, the job was completed safely and efficiently while leaving the site tidy once finished.

A large job recently completed where around 50 conifer trees were dismantled due to root plate movement making them unstable.
This project involved a full site operation using several pieces of machinery to complete the work safely and efficiently.
Job highlights:

🌲 50 conifers dismantled
🚜 Mini loader used to move timber across the site
🚛 Tractor & timber trailer removing 3 large loads of timber
🌿 9 loads of woodchip removed
🪵 Stumps ground out ready for replanting next planting season

A tracked chipper processed the remaining brash, with some chip spread across the site to help manage the muddy ground conditions.
