Two years ago I closed the doors to this shop.

I was here for 4 years, after 20 years in corporate, built an award winning business from nothing, championed incredible independent brands and creators, and tried to bring something a little bit different to the High Street. Closing it was hard but necessary.

One of my amazing friends took it over, initially for 3 months…2 years later she’s still going strong. She’s kept that spirit alive. Different products, same heart. Supporting independent, creative businesses and giving them a platform they deserve.

I’ve been back here for a couple of days covering the shop, chatting with old customers and friends, it’s been lovely.

It’s also reminded me why I do what I do now.

That experience of running my own business, the passion, the pressure, the doing everything myself, the loving it and finding it hard in equal measure is exactly why I work with founders and small businesses now as a VA.

I’m not just someone who manages your content or handles your behind the scenes chaos. I’m someone who’s been where you are. Who gets it. Who genuinely cares whether your business succeeds.

⁣The content that should be out there that isn’t. The website updates, still sitting there. The launch prep for November that hasn’t started. That thing you said you’d sort over summer that’s still on the list.

Half term is two weeks away.

If it hasn’t happened by now, it’s probably coming with you. In your head. On your phone. On the sofa at 10pm when everyone else has switched off.

Consistency builds visibility. Visibility builds trust. Trust builds sales.

Most established business owners already know this, we see and hear it everywhere but knowing it and putting it into practice aren’t the same thing. My VA support doesn’t give you more time, it gives you the headspace and the freedom to choose what you do with your time without the guilt, that’s the difference.

While you’re on the school run, at your hair appointment, having client calls or delivering the work you actually love, this is what I will be doing…

Content. Writing it, designing it, repurposing it, all in your brand and tone of voice. Making sure everything is joined up and visible everywhere it needs to be.

Inbox. Actioning what I can, filing, flagging what needs you. So when you open it you see decisions, not 47 unopened newsletters, receipts and emails you should have replied to last week buried amongst them.

Proofing. Checking your links work, updating your website, proofreading before anything goes out, spotting the things you’re too close to see.
