We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with the wonderful Mia Hansson to hear the story behind her extraordinary mission to recreate the Bayeux Tapestry at full scale. 🧵

Nearly 10 years, countless stitches and an incredible amount of dedication later, she's now approaching the final stages of this remarkable project.

From traditional techniques and colour choices to puppies, perseverance and preserving history, it's a fascinating read.

Who doesn’t love their Appletons shade card?

Recently we received a parcel containing an approximately 30-year old shade card with a note from a customer saying that they couldn’t possibly throw it out, so she wanted to return it to us. We couldn’t resist doing a colour check against a brand new one and we were delighted to see the consistency of dyeing. Bravo for keeping the shade card out of sunlight and looking after it carefully.

And while we are on shade cards, we couldn’t help but be reminded of Elizabeth, who we met at the Stitch Festival in March. Elizabeth has created the colours of the whole shade card into a bag and the quality of her stitching was a marvel to see. Elizabeth is our walking Appletons advert and we were delighted to meet her 😃
