In the workplace, roadways and footpaths should be separate whenever possible. If this cannot be achieved, the safety of pedestrians must be ensured by keeping vehicle routes far enough away from doors or gates that pedestrians use, or from pedestrian routes that lead on to them.

We are delighted to share Hayley Burgess CFIOSH EngTech MIFireE C.BuildE MCABE MSc has accepted an invitation to sit on the Ulster University MSc Fire Engineering Employer Advisory Board.

The board collaborates to bridge the gap between academic research—largely driven by Ulster's renowned FireSERT and real-world commercial practices. Its core mandates include:

✅ Curriculum Development: Informing course content and teaching methodologies to directly reflect industry needs.

✅ Skills Gap Analysis: Identifying current employability needs and mapping out emerging competence requirements.

**The incident has now ended**

We are currently in attendance at a fire of a large quantity of scrap metal at East Twin Road, Belfast.

A total of 9 Appliances, an aerial appliance, high volume pump and 60 Firefighters are at the scene.

The fire is in a pile of scrap metal measuring approximately 50m x 50m.

Crews are utilising the high volume pump to convey water to the fire.

There are no reported injuries and all persons are accounted for.

Operations will continue for some time. Members of the public are encouraged to stay away from East Twin Road and keep windows and doors closed.
