Important Update for UK Employers – Effective April 2026

From 6 April 2026, every employer in the UK will have a legal duty to maintain detailed records of annual leave and holiday pay for at least six years.

This includes clear evidence of:
- Annual leave entitlement and leave actually taken
- Any leave carried forward from previous years
- How holiday pay has been calculated, including what has been counted or excluded

Many organisations already track this information as part of good practice, but the shift to a legal requirement marks a significant change. Now is the time for employers to review their systems and ensure they can meet the new standards for record‑keeping and compliance.
