Work hard. Play hard. And occasionally forget where the spreadsheets are! 😂

As an ActionCOACH business coach, I spend a lot of my time telling business owners that success isn’t just about making more money or growing your business.

It’s about creating a business that gives you the freedom to actually enjoy your life too.

Because what’s the point of building an amazing business if you’re too busy working in it to enjoy the rewards?

So this week, I took my own advice… 😜

A lovely day in London, enjoying the views from the Sky Garden, eating gorgeous food and then finishing the day watching the fabulous stage version of Beetlejuice.

No coaching.
No planning.
No strategy.
No spreadsheets.

Just fun, laughter and enjoying some proper time out. ❤️

I’m a big believer in work-life HARMONY ….not necessarily a perfect 50/50 split, but having the flexibility to work hard when you need to and step away when you want to.

Business success should give you more life, not take your life away.

So go on… when did you last put the business down, switch off and actually celebrate how far you’ve come?

And yes… I’ll be taking my own advice! 🦩

I think business owners put far too much pressure on themselves to get everything right first time.

Business is one long learning process.

Some ideas work brilliantly.

Others don't.

That's normal.

The important thing is recognising what's happening, making the adjustment and moving forward.

Being flexible is one of the biggest strengths a business owner can have.

Businesses that refuse to adapt rarely keep growing.

It might sound controversial coming from a business coach...

But I don't believe a plan should be written once and left alone for the rest of the year.

Business doesn't stand still.

Neither should your plan.

A new opportunity comes along.

The market changes.

You discover something isn't working as well as you'd hoped.

That's not a reason to throw your plan away.

It's a reason to adapt it.

That's why I encourage business owners to think in 90-day blocks.

Plan.

Test.

Review.

Adjust.

Then do it again.

Your plan should help YOU move forward.

But a reminder: trust doesn't appear because you ask for it.

It grows.

Every conversation.

Every promise you keep.

Every email you reply to.

Every time you show up when you said you would.

Trust is built in the little moments.

The businesses that understand that rarely need to chase work.

Their reputation starts doing the talking for them.

Stop networking and start building relationships.

One is about collecting business cards, the other is about earning trust.

The strongest businesses I know don't grow because they're constantly selling.

They grow because people remember them.

Recommend them.

Talk about them when they're not in the room.

That's somtehing that happens one conversation at a time.

You never know who's watching.

While I was fundraising for the charity walk, I received a donation from someone who came to one of my planning sessions...
..fifteen years ago.

Fifteen years.

That stopped me in my tracks (no pun intended) -

Because after all that time, they'd remembered.

It reminded me that business isn't just about this week - or this month.

It's about the relationships you build over years.

The conversations people remember.

The help you gave when they needed it.

Never underestimate the impact of simply showing up and doing good work.

People remember more than you think.

But some of the biggest changes I've seen in businesses have happened in a single quarter.

Don't focus on everything you haven't done.

Focus on what you could still achieve before Christmas.
