Timely Careers

Timely Careers We support and empower women returning to work after a career break, as well as career changers.

We enable them to achieve their career goals with coaching, training, events, support and access to NI's only part-time and flexible jobs board. Timely is a social enterprise created by the Women in Business NI Group. Our mission is to remove the obstacles, anxiety and challenges that women who want to return to work often face. We will enable and empower women, through training and a jobs board,

to get back into work by connecting them to the right support and the right jobs, at the right time for them.

We’re sharing free, practical resources from The Open University to support families, educators and communities working with neurodivergent children.

New research shows many parents feel overwhelmed when searching for reliable support - with only 1 in 4 feeling confident in the information they find.

To help, the OU has launched a free Supporting Neurodivergent Children hub, bringing together trusted guidance and practical tools for use at home, in school and across community settings.

The hub includes:

• Practical strategies to support children day-to-day

• Guidance on communication, routines and sensory needs

• Free learning resources and pathways into further study

We encourage our networks to explore and share this valuable resource with families and colleagues.

The vast majority of organisations (91%) offer some kind of flexible working arrangement (CIPD, 2025)👋🏼

Flexible working reflects the changing needs of today’s workforce and the realities of life outside the office. Women no longer need to be tied to rigid 9-5 structures to be productive. Flexibility empowers individuals balancing work, family and personal responsibilities.

Flexible working supports inclusivity, reduces barriers to career progression and helps employers attract and retain diverse talent. Flexible working is not just a perk – it’s a vital part of building healthier, more resilient and future focused workplaces.

At Timely Careers, we connect women with flexible opportunities and progressive employers who understand that modern work should fit life – not the other way around ✅

A step forward for women, work and workplace compassion.

At the end of March, we learned from the Northern Ireland Economy Minister Dr. Caoimhe Archibald that Northern Ireland is set to become the first region in the UK or Ireland to introduce two weeks of paid miscarriage leave - a landmark moment for employees and employers alike.

At Timely Careers, we see this as more than just policy change. It's progress toward a more humane, inclusive world of work.

Why this matters? The lack of formal support historically around miscarriage, forced women to choose between their wellbeing and their careers. This new policy will help women stay connected to the workforce, reduce the financial impact of pregnancy loss as well as recognising the role of partners and shared support. It will also allow individuals to take time for themselves to navigate privately without the expectations and pressures of work.

This legislation sets a new benchmark for compassionate workplace culture. It challenges organisations to think beyond minimum requirements and consider how they truly support their people during life's most difficult moments.

We work with women navigating career changes, returning to work and experiencing pivotal life stages. Behind every professional ad organisation are real people with challenges, barriers and circumstances that we may not know about. It's our job to support and lighten that wherever possible.

Supporting women at every stage of life isn't just the right thing to do, it's essential for a resilient, inclusive workforce and at Timely Careers, we're proud to be part of that movement.
