What do you want to be when you grow up? It sounds like a simple question and one we ask young people all the time, but it's not always a simple answer.

Why did we set up Careers Navigator by Network Notwork CIC?
Because young people need careers education with real-time updates. They need exposure to real-world work experience and opportunities.

Our co-founder and MD Dr Kat Carruthers says in her latest blog: "The honest answer is this: some of the jobs we are pointing them towards today will not look the same by the time they finish school. Some might not exist at all."

Today was the start of a fabulous opportunity for two of our current Tees Valley Combined Authority youth guarantee trailblazers Abbie and Oli to have the opportunity to work as research assistants at Durham University Business School alongside Dr Kat Carruthers on a project exploring mental health and entrepreneurship led by Dr Sanne Elbrink. What an excellent addition to their placement ⭐️👏

ALERT 🚨 we are getting reports that young people everywhere are struck down by a mysterious attraction to The NotWORKer Junior magazine. Everywhere they go, young people are unable to pull themselves away from fascinating careers stories and articles. Be vigilant… it’s everywhere 😱

The NetWORKer Junior has made it to the big city. Combining business meetings with sightseeing is how it’s done and these two junior journalists are starting young 🙌 unfortunately even a T-Rex isn’t enough to distract them … (where are those risk assessments 🥴👀)

Flashback to when our NetWORKer Junior editor Alice (11) slept under the stars for Ceo Sleepout Uk. Their Middlesbrough event is coming up very soon in Middlesbrough FC stadium on the 30th April followed by The Alnwick Garden in Lillidorei on the 14th May - get booked on to support an incredible cause!

An 11-year-old budding journalist is spending a night out under the stars at the Stadium of Light tomorrow (November 6) in a bid to help the region’s homeless people.

Wonderful to see our innovative careers and skills programme for ages 8-88+ to be featured in Northern Insight Magazine 💫🙌 16 days until we welcome our first cohort of apprentices onto the programme.

New innovative education programme launches in the Tees Valley - Insight Magazine Education - 1st April 2026 - A new education programme designed to tackle the skills gap and empower young people to be confident about joining the workforce has officially launched in Teesside.

We can’t either - you awesome bunch! It features interviews with Rob Lindsay, Max Freer and other inspirational folks! What’s even better is this promo and other posts you see were also created by our junior journalists who have co-created the content from beginning to end.
