🚨 Enough is enough. 🚨
Security professionals are the silent shield of our society - protecting venues, hospitals, transport hubs, and the night-time economy. Yet far too often, they’re the ones facing violence.
📊 The reality across the UK security sector:
• Over 53% of security operatives report experiencing physical violence at work
• Nearly 4 in 5 (around 79%) face verbal abuse, threats, or intimidation
• A significant number of incidents go unreported, meaning the true scale is even worse
• Security staff are consistently ranked among the most at-risk professions for workplace violence in the UK
This isn’t occasional. It’s widespread. It’s normalised. And that’s the problem.
Every shift, security workers step into unpredictable situations to keep others safe - often without the legal protection their role deserves.
At RFS, we believe it’s time to draw a line.
We’re supporting the petition to make assaulting a security worker a stand-alone criminal offence - because protecting the public should never mean becoming a target.
Stand with us. Sign the petition. Be part of the change.
Because everyone deserves to feel safe at work.
Security workers play a vital role in maintaining public safety, but can face violence and abuse while performing their duties. Despite their critical role in protecting businesses, venues, and the public, security workers lack the legal protections afforded to emergency workers and shop workers.
