For people who have ordered with us we are yet to finish our pre orders and are super grateful for your patience as a lot has happened in the last month. We will keep our preordered customers updated and then will decide what is the future of Young Enterprise at Stromness Academy!

On behalf of the Stromness Academy Young Enterprise team, we are sad to hear that our school janitor has sadly passed away. ❤️
Mark was a big inspiration to us all, and taught us many life lessons while always having a good laugh. He believed in us from the very start and was always there to help out with the chess set. He set us off and guided us to Glasgow with his motivation and amazing skill set, he was always willing to do whatever it took to push us to our limits. We would spend hours in the tech department just all getting to know eachother and having a laugh as he had such a big impact on so many people’s life’s as he was an overall great guy with so much humour, knowledge and charisma.
We at pieces of orkney are all devastated and wish our condolences to his family, friends and anyone who knew him, as we remember him with a smile on our faces and the legacy he left which was the extraordinary amount of help he had given to pieces of orkney, as we wouldn’t of got to where we are without him. Rest in Peace Mark. ♟️

Even though our journey may be over at young enterprise, we still continue to produce the rest of our orders before we decide what is next for pieces of orkney.

We are so thankful to have this experience it has been amazing, and we have learnt so much from it. This is an opportunity that has enhanced our skills such as a public speaking, team work, entrepreneurship and problem solving.

We are yet to decide what we plan to do but it is not over yet, we are so proud of the product we have produced and want to expand and not let go of it. Gabrielle and Finn will be attending university after the summer to do Business with marketing and computing science, meanwhile Scott and Emily are planning to stay in orkney and Emily plans to travel next year.

The whole day was so exciting and we learnt so much, we had a team interview and presentation which gave us great experience for future projects. The evening event was great, connecting with other teams and seeing how others view business.

Thank you to Mr Thomson, Miss Dunn and Matthew for dealing with us the last three days and being very supportive. Thank you to mark waters whom helped us with the original idea and guided us. Thank you to our business mentors Alison and Ian for giving us great advice we sometime followed. And thank you to the school for allowing us to do this in the first place as we will never forget this experience. Plus thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout our journey as you have motivated us to do the best we can.

We will keep you updated and good luck to the GOATS in the UK final and good luck to the future young enterprise of Stromness Academy.

What an amazing journey
Today we had a 9 hour journey to Glasgow to compete in the finals, which we wish all our competitors the best of luck! This experience has taught us the insides of owning a business and even with a lot of problems we have found solutions and now competing in nationals on Wednesday where we will have a trade stand, presentation and interview which we will keep you updated on through social media. Thank you to everyone who voted for us for peoples choice award and we are so lucky to have this experience. We are currently deciding if we shall be taking any more orders but will keep people updated as we prepare for the big day!
