Liam works from our main Workshop based in Oakdale and is currently studying his Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Level 2 Apprenticeship, we caught up with him for a chat about his apprenticeship 🔨🔧🔩
What attracted you to an apprenticeship and RMR in particular?
My mam and dad are lorry drivers, and I’ve always had an interest in the industry. When I decided it’s what I wanted to do I knew an apprenticeship would be best so I can gain my qualifications. I knew people who already worked here and said it was a great place to work so I applied.
How do you balance being in work and college?
I would prefer to be in work learning rather than college, I find it more enjoyable, but I do have great support form my work colleagues and the college
What’s your favourite and least favourite parts about your apprenticeship?
I love that I get to do a variety of things, plant, lorries, HGV’s and spraying. My favourite thing is servicing, and the least is washing down the kit.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
I’m looking forward to being fully qualified and I’ve always wanted to go abroad and work.
