• CCTV cameras have a clear view, with no dirt, damage or overgrown foliage blocking coverage
• Gates, doors and other access points close securely and show no signs of damage

A few minutes of checking now can help identify small issues before they become bigger problems. If you spot a fault, record it and arrange a prompt repair.

Dorset’s latest crime figures show a mixed picture for local businesses.

The Bournemouth Echo, reporting ONS figures for the year ending March 2026, says recorded crime fell 7.9%, with vehicle offences and theft also decreasing. Robbery rose 24%, while anti-social behaviour increased 4.7%. Personal anti-social behaviour fell 17.9%.

The practical takeaway is to keep the basics consistent: review opening and closing routines, check lighting and access controls, record incidents clearly, and make sure staff know what to do if a concern arises.

A review is sensible; panic is not.

A brilliant evening in London with Guardhouse.

Vanguard’s Managing Director, Jordan Mooney, and General Manager, Jo Blunden, were delighted to attend an exclusive Guardhouse client dinner at Sexy Fish, alongside fellow security professionals and industry leaders.

The evening provided a great opportunity to step away from the day-to-day and have open conversations around business growth, the challenges facing the security industry, future opportunities and the continued development of technology within our operations.
