AUCTION PREVIEW: The Secret Collection of a Master Woodworker

Warren & Wignall Ltd is delighted to announce our upcoming Collectors Auction on Wednesday, 21st October, featuring an extraordinary, lifelong collection of bespoke woodwork from a highly gifted Southport craftsman.

This unique single-owner collection represents the life’s work of Mr John Prescott (born 20th April 1939). John’s distinguished career in woodworking began as a maintenance engineer at the Littlewood’s factory in Liverpool, before he spent many years serving the region through the family joinery business, J Prescott & Sons, and subsequently Ormsby Church Supplies.

A dedicated artisan, family records note that John spent almost the entirety of his leisure time in his workshop. His exceptional output seamlessly marries the rigorous technical discipline of 18th-century cabinet making with striking, Dali-esque Surrealism. Following his recent relocation to a residential care facility, the family has entrusted Warren & Wignall Ltd with the sale of these masterful, highly imaginative pieces.
