What does a singer do when she loses her voice?

Here, Ngaio Anyia talks about the second time she literally lost her voice. She was told by an ENT specialist that she couldn’t speak at all - let alone sing - for up to a year.

She was forced to go inward but at the same time, driven by a need for creative expression, she found a new outlet that changed the course of her life.

✨Survivors deserve a version of the story that centres them and shows their strength.✨

📣 Episode 4 is out now 📣

In this episode of How You Find Your Voice, I’m joined by poet and author Nikita Gill to talk about myth and the power of storytelling. We discuss her latest book Hekate, a vivid retelling of the goddess of crossroads and liminal spaces, often known as the first witch, and why reclaiming these stories matters.

We talk about Persephone, female agency, and why what Hekate represents feels so urgently needed right now. This is a conversation about power, survival, and what happens when women and survivors are written back into stories that have long excluded them.
