Just because a storage product is viral doesn’t mean it’s actually a good organising solution.

Here are 3 storage buys to think twice about and what I’d choose instead:

✅ 1. Over-the-door shoe organisers:

They can be flimsy and quickly become difficult to access.

Try instead: A sturdy vertical shoe rack in wood or metal.

✅ 2. Cheap storage boxes without secure lids:

They crack, collapse and can make stacking a nightmare.

Try instead: Clear, sturdy boxes with secure clip-lock lids, such as Really Useful Boxes.

✅ 3. Vacuum-seal bags:

They look like a brilliant space-saver… until the seal fails and they puff back up!

Try instead: Breathable fabric storage bags or sturdy lidded boxes.

Making my house work for me 🌟🌟🌟

When people think about decluttering and organising, they often imagine perfectly labelled containers and tidy shelves. But for many of my clients, it’s about something much deeper.

It’s about creating a home that feels calmer, easier to manage and more supportive of everyday life.

I’ve been working with a wonderful client to tackle clutter, simplify decision-making and create practical systems that work for her. Progress doesn’t happen overnight, and one of the most important parts of the process is moving at a pace that feels comfortable and sustainable.

Designing a space that works beautifully and practically? That’s where thoughtful spatial planning makes all the difference.

I was recently commissioned by a client to create a bespoke clothing storage solution for her large spare room. The challenge? She didn’t want a traditional walk-in wardrobe, as the room still needed to function as a welcoming guest space.

Through my Bespoke Lifestyle Solutions & Spatial Planning service, I take away the stress, overwhelm, and countless hours spent searching for the “perfect” storage solution. From detailed measurements and product sourcing to 3D layouts and visual concepts, every detail is carefully considered to ensure your home functions seamlessly around your lifestyle.

The Brief:

After, our video consultation, I begun researching and designing concepts based on our initial video call. Using AI visualisation tools, design planning software, and detailed product research, I created a series of mock-ups featuring different IKEA storage systems to help my client visualise the possibilities within the room.

At the onsite consultation, I took precise measurements, reviewed the architectural details of the property, and refined the concepts further. One important consideration was preserving the room’s original 1920s character features - including the picture rails and high skirting boards, which significantly influenced the final design direction.

I emailed her my final designs of the 3 IKEA clothing systems with QR codes - so that she could order exactly what she needed too. As part of my service, I also curated a look book of complementary furniture, lighting, and styling ideas with product links, to help bring the overall vision for the space to life.

Because spatial planning isn’t simply about making furniture fit. It’s about creating flow, functionality, and a home that feels effortless to live in.
