Join us for an important conversation on Youth Leadership and Transformative Governance as the Academy for Transformative Leadership (ATL), in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University Student Union hosts a Public Lecture on Saturday, 13 June 2026.

At a time when the world is seeking innovative solutions to complex challenges, the role of value-driven, visionary, and transformative leadership has never been more critical. This event will provide a platform for meaningful dialogue on the responsibility of young people to shape governance, influence change, and build a better future.

We are honoured to welcome Pastor Tunde Bakare as the Guest Speaker. Renowned for his thought leadership on governance, nation-building, and leadership development, he will share valuable insights drawn from decades of experience. The event will also feature the presentation of his three-volume book on leadership and governance.

Whether you are a student, emerging leader, professional, policymaker, or leadership enthusiast, this lecture offers a unique opportunity to engage with ideas that can inspire action and drive transformation.

We at the Academy for Transformative Leadership (ATL) proudly celebrate one of our own, Dr Ifedapo Francis Awolowo PFHEA, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to UK higher education.

This prestigious honour, marked by his invitation to the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, highlights Dr Awolowo’s nationally significant work on race, ethnicity, equity, and access within higher education, particularly through his leadership of the ASPIRE (Accomplished Study Programme in Research Excellence) initiative.

Since its launch in 2021, ASPIRE has supported and mentored Black and mixed-Black heritage scholars, helping many progress into fully funded PhD programmes while creating pathways for greater representation, inclusion, and excellence within academia.

What makes this achievement especially inspiring is the purpose behind the work, a deep commitment to ensuring that talented individuals are seen, supported, and given opportunities to thrive.

Dr Awolowo’s journey is a powerful example of transformational leadership in action; leadership rooted in impact, equity, courage, and service.

We celebrate this well-deserved recognition and honour the incredible work Dr Awolowo continues to do in shaping lives, influencing systems, and advancing meaningful change within higher education and beyond.
