When someone has concerns about a colleague’s behaviour, they usually have the ability and the power to take action to rectify the situation. We will never understand what went through the minds of the work colleagues of Wayne Couzens who were part of the same WhatsApp group involving police officers (now under investigation) sharing alleged misogynistic, racist and homophobic messages, or those female colleagues that apparently gave him the nickname “The Rapist” because he gave them "the creeps".

Employers have a legal duty of care to employees and therefore both employers and co-workers must NEVER ignore the red flags that go up about an individual’s actions, language or behaviours – report concerns and if they don’t get acted upon, take the next step.

This week has been one where I have seriously questioned my career choice at times (…run away & join the circus anyone?!).

However, today, I got lovely feedback from a training session I ran, was told by one client how much they valued me and then later on I was thrilled & surprised to receive flowers from a different client to say ‘thank you’ for all my hard work for them 💕 Better day today! ☺️

I heard last night that someone working in a Ramsbottom business (hotel) did not know we have a theatre in Ramsbottom….do you? What potential business opportunities & collaborations are being missed? If any local businesses, particularly restaurants, bars & hotels are looking to see how a collaboration can mutually help, contact me or email: [email protected]

Comments from one member of the audience, who regularly used to be on TV himself, said “Excellent play, first class direction and acting that -had an outsider seen it-could easily assumed to be professional” - Tickets still on sale for this week

Employers can register for free lateral flow tests in April if they have 10 or more employees, however, they must do it TODAY, i.e. register by 11:59pm on 12 April 2021 - the site goes on to advise that if the business is closed or you cannot provide tests now, you should still register so you can order tests in the future.

There are two options available:
• You can order free rapid lateral flow tests to test your employees twice a week in the workplace; OR
• If you have 10 or more employees, from early April you’ll be able to order tests for your employees to collect from their workplace and use at home twice a week. You can do this if you cannot provide testing in the workplace.

Register here:
www.gov.uk/get-workplace-coronavirus-tests

Alternatively, employees can register for lateral flow tests to be sent to their home address for them to conduct the test in private via this link:
www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests

Despite the progress we, as a country, are making with the vaccine programme, Covid-19 isn’t going to go away immediately and the measures, such as social distancing, the wearing of face coverings in certain situations and regular handwashing is likely to continue for some time, therefore this is something I do recommend as an additional option to continue to keep workplaces as Covid-secure as is reasonably possible, and to provide re-assurance to employees that the organisation is doing what it can as part of the duty of care.

How to order coronavirus (COVID-19) rapid lateral flow home test kits for twice-weekly testing.

As an employer, do you know what you need to do to get ready for Brexit? Is your 'Right to Work' documentation in place for ALL of your employees - not just those who may be migrant workers? Do you risk discriminating?

From 1 January 2021, freedom of movement between the UK and EU will end and the UK will introduce an immigration system that will treat all applicants equally, regardless of where they come from. Anyone you want to recruit from outside the UK, excluding Irish citizens, will need to apply for permission first.

For information about the range of documentation you need - including checklists, declarations, sample paperwork, status check and share code information and letters for employees, along with details about skilled and 'un-skilled' workers and licence costs - get in touch now!
