Peak Logs

We've been busy supporting a clearance job at the Goyt Valley, near Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire.

Our team delivered a 19 tonne Hitachi excavator and a John Deere Forwarder to the site, a 3.6 acre section of woodland that needed to be felled and processed. Our team work closely to ensure a professional service and results, which you can see below in this video.

If you need any help with forestry management, our team would be happy to discuss any work, large or small.

Before our logs are processed, split and kiln dried, they begin life right here in local woodlands.

Working alongside local forestry specialists and woodland managers, timber is carefully harvested as part of responsible woodland management programmes. These operations help maintain healthy woodlands, encourage new growth and ensure forests can continue to thrive for generations to come.

Once felled, the timber is stacked in the woodland ready for collection and transport back to our yard, where the next stage of the journey begins. From there, suitable timber is processed into our premium kiln-dried logs, while other material is supplied to local businesses for recycling and reuse.

Every log has a story, and it starts long before it reaches your fireplace.

Before any log enters one of our kilns, it first has to be carefully processed and split.

Splitting firewood isn’t just about creating manageable-sized logs. It increases the surface area of the timber, allowing moisture to escape more effectively during the kiln-drying process. This helps us achieve the consistently low moisture content that our customers expect from Peak Logs.

Every batch is processed to produce logs that are suitable for most wood burners and stoves, before being transferred to the kilns where they are dried and prepared for delivery.

It’s all part of the process that turns sustainably sourced timber into premium-quality firewood that’s ready to burn from the moment it arrives at your home.

Another day, another batch heading through the process. 🌲

The team has been hard at work preparing another load of premium kiln-dried logs, ensuring every piece meets the high standards our customers expect.

From processing and splitting through to kiln drying and loading for delivery, there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes before a log reaches your fire. The result is a quality product that’s easy to light, burns efficiently and is ready to use straight away.

As demand continues throughout the year, we’re keeping the yards stocked and the kilns running to ensure plenty of firewood is available when you need it.
