I qualified as an Integrative Counsellor and am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a General Member of the College of S*x and Relationship Therapists (COSRT). As an integrative counsellor I draw on my awareness of the various theoretical approaches utilising this to tailor the therapy to suit the individual client’s needs. I work primarily with a P
erson Centred Approach letting the client determine how fast and in which direction the therapy progresses, in order to resolve his or her own problems. The relationship between the client and me, as the therapist, is an essential part of the therapy and I believe that this is achieved by providing a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space within which to work. The everyday difficulties of living in a complex, modern society can be hard enough for anyone but being transgendered can exacerbate those problems; nevertheless, the transgendered, like everyone else, have to deal with all the common issues that confront young people and adults alike. If you feel that it might be better, or easier, to talk with someone who can empathise closely with your own gender identity issues, then you may find that I can offer the support you need, whether specifically in that area, or in dealing with other, non-gender-related issues. I work from premises in Letchworth and St Albans and comfortably cover the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire areas.
