Good news — my phone line is now fully working again and I’m officially back to work and taking bookings! 🎉

I’m currently working my way through the machines already booked in, but I’m also taking on new services and repairs for domestic sewing machines and overlockers.

One thing you'll quickly learn about me is that I never stop learning. No matter how much experience you have, there's always something new to discover.

Recently, I spent a few days with the team at Artizan Training, completing their Business Domestic Lockstitch course.

I wanted the opportunity to learn from some of the most knowledgeable people in the sewing machine industry and further expand my understanding of the machines I work on every day. No matter how much experience you have, there's always something new to learn, a different way to approach a problem, or another piece of industry knowledge to take away.

It was great to spend time with such a knowledgeable group of people, and I've come away with plenty of new ideas, techniques, and insights that will help me provide an even better service for my customers.

A big thank you to everyone at Artizan Training for a fantastic course.

A little update from me... 👋

It's been a little quiet on here recently, but a lot has been happening behind the scenes! First update...

Over the last few weeks I've been spending some time in France with family, helping out at my uncle's wonderful gin distillery, La Distillerie du Sud, in the beautiful Ariège region. 🇫🇷🍸

There has been plenty of exploring, family time, and some incredible scenery along the way.

Of course, I haven't been able to stay away from machines for long! There have still been sewing and knitting machines finding their way onto the workbench, plenty of lint and fluff being removed, and a few repair projects keeping me busy while I've been away. 🧵🔧

The good news is that I'm back from Monday and ready to get stuck back into servicing and repairs.

📅 My books are now open for June.

It’s been a bit quiet on here lately, but only because I’ve been busy putting quite a few misbehaving sewing machines back in their place over the past month 🧵

A big thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their machines so far — I really appreciate the support.

This weekend’s project is this Brother KH-950i knitting machine. I’ve got lots of ideas/projects in mind, so best get it up and running!

I’ve also been taking a few photos and videos along the way, so I’ll start sharing more soon. :)

👋 Hi, I’m Maddie — Welcome to the new Calne Sewing Machine Repair page.

I service, maintain, and repair domestic sewing machines. Keeping them running smoothly and saving them from being shoved in a cupboard (or worse, the tip).

I grew up around sewing and making, thanks to my mum, Diana of Malling Makes, who’s been a seamstress, dressmaker, and general crafty force all her life. That curiosity stuck, and these days I split my time between making things, learning skills, and taking machines apart — then getting them running smoothly again.

I focus on clear pricing, practical advice, and straightforward repairs. No unnecessary work or surprises!
