Academic year 2021-2022 saw me working again with the Independent Welsh Pay Review Body (IWPRB) and a number of further education colleges and work-based learning providers.

On to 2022-2023, and I will soon begin working with the IWPRB on their fifth report. I also have a number of post-16 provider support contracts already in the diary. Another busy year!

I've been very lucky over the last two years to have continued to work (via Teams, and a few face to face meetings between lockdowns) with a number of work based learning providers across Wales, and next month I begin my fourth year of contracted work with the Independent Welsh Pay Review Body. Hopefully I'll get to see board members in person as the contract progresses.

I was very happy to work with learners and staff at ACT Training, helping them prepare for their Estyn inspection. Good friendships were made and I was very pleased to hear the final judgements of the inspection team. All inspection areas were judged to have strong features.

Congratulations to Cardiff and Vale College (CAVC) on the outcome of the recent inspection of their further education provision by Estyn, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate for Education and Training in Wales. The report shows all inspection areas were judged as good or excellent.

CAVC are only the second FE College in Wales to be inspected against Estyn’s new Common Inspection Framework and CAVC is the first to be awarded an excellent judgement within this framework for wellbeing and attitudes to learning.

I’m proud to have worked with learners and staff at CAVC and very pleased that Estyn have recognised their excellent work in supporting their learners to be healthy, happy and enjoy their time at college, whilst working towards becoming skilled and employable people.
