Parkinson's Law - ever heard of it?

It's the theory that work expands to fill the time available for completion.

You see it all the time when meetings are booked "not sure how long this will take so let's book an hour" and it always somehow does take the full hour.

But does it need to? Often not.

So one of my top time management tips when booking meetings/calls, appointments or time blocking work is:
- Ask yourself how long it will actually take?
- And only book that time!

No "I'll add on 15 minutes buffer just in case" otherwise Parkinson's Law will creep up on you again.

Simple but effective and makes working so much more efficient.

P.S. Don't be scared to book a 15 minute meeting just because it's not the calendar's default. For some reason, it seems to think everything takes at least 30, it doesn't. Don’t let the calendar be the boss of you.

Here's a little bit more about me, the person behind the processes, in five facts.

Working online is great, but it can feel harder to get to know someone through a screen.

These are all things that came up in conversation lately at networking, co-working events and in person meetings with clients so I thought I'd share them online too.
