The auction includes a copy of “The Universe and Dr. Einstein” by Lincoln Barnett signed by Albert Einstein himself. It carries a pre-sale estimate of £1000 to £2000. Einstein’s 1954 so-called "God Letter, expressing his views on religion and humanity, sold at auction in New York for £2.5million.
One of the stars of the auction is a gorgeous late 16th / early 17th century oil on miniature portrait of an aristocratic or royal young woman. It is set in an enamelled pendant frame with diamonds, emeralds and rubies. This rarity carries a pre-sale estimate of £5000 to £10000.
Fans of the Star Wars franchise will be in their element with over 30 lots, including a boxed Lego Millenium Falcon and four-foot Darth Vader figure along with other figures and collectables from the 1970s to the present day.
Silver candlesticks can be found in pretty much every sale but this auction includes a ‘hauntingly’ beautiful set of Arts and Crafts examples with bat motifs and the inscription “Now is the Witching Hour of Night”. Pre-sale estimate of £800 to £1200.
A collection of Burberry bags, shawls and scarfs can be found in the sale with pre-sale estimates ranging from £30 to £ 200. The Vintage fashion market remains particularly strong at the current moment.
Being sold in aid of charity are two items of original signed artwork from Aaardman Studios. The highlight is a watercolour of the much loved Claymation characters Wallace and Gromit, which we hope will fetch £1000, or more, in a good cause.
A private collection of five lovingly restored vintage stationary engines can be found in the auction including iconic names such as Wolseley, Petter and Bamford’s. Bamford’s Uttoxeter having the Royal Warrant as agricultural engineers to His Majesty King George V. Pre-sale estimates for these fall in the region of £200-400. These can be bought just in time for the The Cumbria Steam Gathering in the south of the County, later next month.
