At this time of year the fine saw dust we put down to draw the wee away from the straw bed starts to fail. We start to remove it as we will be moving over to the bigger summer track soon. We top up with fresh straw through out winter and by the looks of these two the horses are loving fresh bedding day.

Im on a roll!!! Two posts in a month!
Enrichment post. The weather is wet and horrible and so the track ponies are not venturing to the further away nets. To encourage a bit of extra movement on a dry (ish) day i hang small munch size nets if haylage. On Monday i also added bits of sliced up parsnip to the hay nets. I do this in some not all so that it encouages them to go from net to net and find the 'treats'

It has been a bitter sweet couple of weeks on the farm as we welcome our newcomers but said a sad fair well to a long-standing member of our community. The highly spirited and formidable Megan was pts quiet suddenly, and unexpectedly, she was in her thirties and had been here a very long time. Sweet dreams, Megs .

A very warm welcome to Espe and Her mum Laura. Espe has come to Fairlawn to join the full-time track. She is such a relaxed mare that I am sure she will slip into the herd in no time.

I love how community spirited our yard is at them moment.
Today, one of our liveries huabands went and cleared a big mess on a local bridle path after another livery had a nasty accident with a branch. Earlier in the week another livery cleared a branch which had fallen blocked a different bridle path and earlier in the month someone else cleared yet another area that had become a jungle!!! They are now organising a group clear up.
Thank you all so much for being so lovely it benefits not only our yard but everyone locally

I post so often about the track that it would be easy to think we only offer track livery. But no!!!! We have had a successful DIY and assisted DIY for 40 years. All the horses and ponies are stabled at night and turned out EVERYDAY. Even in winter, we will only pull in for the most adverse weather conditions. We are blessed with 40 acres of well draining grazing that is on chalk so minimal mud. Recently, we gave the yard a bit of a face lift.
