Please respect private farmland, stick to public footpaths, and ALWAYS leave gates exactly as you find them.

We’re really disappointed to have to post this, and we want to be clear that this is not aimed at the majority of people who respect the countryside, stick to public footpaths, close gates, and treat farmland with care.

Sadly, we’ve recently had a few people coming onto our land without permission and leaving gates open. As farmers, this is incredibly worrying. Gates are closed for a reason: to keep livestock safe, protect crops, and prevent animals from getting onto roads or into places where they could be injured.

What might seem like a harmless walk through a field, or leaving a gate open “just for a minute”, can have serious consequences for our animals, our farm, and other road users.

We know most people are thoughtful and respectful, and we’re very grateful for that. This post is aimed only at the few who give little thought to the countryside, the animals, and the people who work hard to care for them.

Please respect private farmland, stick to public footpaths, and always leave gates exactly as you find them.

Tucked away behind Berry Hill Primary School on Nine Wells Rd is a hidden gem of a place - Berry Hill Community Orchard Opened to the public in 2016, they have over twenty fruit trees and 55 fruit bushes, many planted in clusters, following permaculture principles. A dedicated committee of nine organises various events throughout the year, such as a Wassail in January, an Easter egg hunt, and occasional summer picnics. The Orchard is open to everyone, whether you wish to simply relax on a bench and listen to birdsong, or join in on the work parties held every third Sunday of the month. The FFN strongly encourages everyone to visit this charming little oasis. 😄🌳🍎🍐🍒🐦🦋🐞🐝
