A question I get all the time I’m a director of a limited company hows best to pay myself

Well here’s how:

Salary + Dividends is often the most tax-efficient way.

Pay yourself a salary (often at or just above the National Insurance threshold).

Top it up with dividends (paid from company profits after tax).

Why this works:
✔ Salary is a deductible business expense — reducing your corporation tax
✔ Dividends are taxed at a lower rate than salary
✔ You still build qualifying years for your state pension

But — it’s not one-size-fits-all. Your situation (other income, tax code, company profits) really matters.
