The felt underneath the tiles helps keep water away from the wood, so it doesn't leak into your loft and home. Roofing felt can be a life-saver during extreme storms, heavy rains, and snow. Even if you lose a tile, the felt provides an extra layer of protection for the roof deck.

On average each type of roof felt will last a minimum of 10 years as a standard, though of course with the right care and maintenance they can surpass that - with a life expectancy of around 15-30 years.

If your house was built before 1993, you may need new felt, and if built before 1973, it is likely your roof may need replacing.
