A weekend for the memory bank ❤️

A trip to Newcastle to see Max settling into uni life — and a good excuse to celebrate my birthday AND our 2nd wedding anniversary while we were there!

It’s still strange having one less at home (and I definitely miss him more than he misses us), but seeing him happy and enjoying this new chapter makes it that little bit easier.

Family, celebrations, good food, a few drinks and some lovely memories made.

Now… back to reality and the bookkeeping!

A few very simple things make your bookkeeper’s life much easier:

Refresh your bank feed.
Send your receipts.
Reply to the s**t list.

And please don’t give us one hour’s notice for something you’ve known about for three weeks.

That’s it. That’s the secret.

Obviously, none of my clients ever do any of the above because they’re all absolutely perfect… 😉

And just like that, the tent has been packed away after our last camping weekend of the year and I’m officially going into hibernation until summer!

Give me a laptop, Wi-Fi and a brew and I can keep on top of bookkeeping and admin from pretty much anywhere — although I’ll admit, this particular office view is going to take some beating!

I use a time tracker to track time for my clients

If I stop to make a brew, answer the door, go to the loo, deal with an interruption, or sit waiting for a painfully slow computer… the timer stops too

You’re not paying for me to be “at work”

You’re paying for the ACTUAL work

That’s one of the things I like about outsourced support. You don’t need to fund a whole working day to get the bit of help you actually need

One less admin job to think about.

I’m always looking for small ways to save time when life and work are already busy enough.

School newsletters are full of dates, reminders and deadlines — and I never have time to sit there manually adding them all to my calendar.

Now I can upload the newsletter to ChatGPT, pull out the key dates and add the ones I need straight into my Outlook Family calendar.

Less scrolling.
Less forgetting.
Less admin.

And more time to crack on with the stuff that actually needs me.

Small automations like this make such a difference.
