A wee thank you note to you all… ❤️
Since the day we opened The Wee Olive, I swear to you, I never imagined for one second that we would end up standing here with so many incredible people standing beside us.
I thought I was opening a wee coffee shop.
Turns out, I was building a family.
We’ve met complete strangers who somehow became friends almost instantly. We’ve welcomed people I worked alongside years ago who have walked through our doors just to encourage me, congratulate us and tell us how proud they are.
We’ve watched strangers become regulars… and regulars become people we genuinely miss when we haven’t seen them for a few days.
You’ve shared your stories with us. Your good days, your bad days, your celebrations and sometimes your struggles.
Some of you have even taken our Wee Olive playlist home and used it as the soundtrack to special family moments… and then come back and told us about them. 🥹
Do you actually realise what that means to us?
But there’s something else that gets me every single time…
Whenever someone tries to knock us off our path, criticise us unfairly or make us doubt ourselves, you lot show up in masses.
The messages.
The comments.
The visits.
The encouragement.
The “don’t you dare let this get to you!”
The people walking through the door just because they saw something online and wanted to show their support.
And THAT… honestly chokes me up every time. 😭❤️
We have our weekday regulars.
Our weekend regulars.
Our “just popping in for a coffee” people who somehow stay for ages. 😂
Our occasional visitors.
And even travellers who walk through our doors because somebody, somewhere, told them:
“You need to try The Wee Olive.”
That will NEVER become normal to me.
For a girl who thought her family consisted of five people… well, six if we include our wee Ollie 😂❤️… somehow I’ve ended up with a family much bigger than I ever imagined.
You are the family I always wanted to have.
Whether The Wee Olive is here for one year, ten years or hopefully many, many more, I want you to know that your kindness, your encouragement and the love you’ve shown us will stay in our hearts forever.
And thank you to those of you who actually READ my ridiculously long Facebook posts. 😂😂😂
I absolutely LOVE when someone stops me in the shop and says,
“I read all your posts!”
or
“I was waiting to see what you were going to say next!”
Apparently I opened a coffee shop and accidentally became a Facebook columnist too. 😂
To my family… thank you. ❤️
And to my Olives , my wee team , thank you from the bottom of my heart.
It hasn’t always been an easy ride. There have been crazy days, stressful days, tears, laughter, mistakes, lessons, sell-outs, queues, mountains of dishes and moments where we’ve wondered how on earth we’re going to get through the next hour.
But we do.
Together.
We also recently had to say goodbye to one of our Olives as she moved on to bigger and better things. We are incredibly proud of her, but she is very much missed and will always be part of our Wee Olive story. ❤️
So from me, my family and every single one of my Olives…
THANK YOU.
Thank you for choosing us.
Thank you for defending us.
Thank you for believing in us.
Thank you for laughing with us.
Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
Thank you for walking through our doors again and again.
Most of all…
Thank you for making our wee coffee shop feel like home.
We might be The Wee Olive…
…but the family around it has become anything but wee.
