Imposter syndrome...

I don't think I've ever met a business owner who doesn't feel it from time to time!

Even when my previous business was doing millions in sales, I would always have moments thinking,

I'm gonna get found out soon, you don't know what you're doing...

After speaking to countless other entrepreneurs, I found out they often feel the same thing.

Passing self-doubt is a fact of life for any business owner, so how best to deal with it?

This is what I did:

Activity. Specifically activity you have been putting off!

I found that if I went and did all the niggling difficult jobs I'd been putting off in my business, it would quickly go away. I learned I had to do the things I least wanted to do. I learned I had to do it anyway.

You see, when you get into this habit not only will good things start to happen in your business, but your mind will also start to feel at ease, and your resolve will improve.

The more often you go and do the things you don't want to do, the less you will feel like an imposter.

You will grow stronger mentally, and you will be able to handle bigger problems.

And although imposter syndrome will never go away forever, it won't paralyze you.

3 Key Secrets When Starting a New Business

If there's one thing I've learned when starting a new business, it's that it takes time to see the fruits of your labor.

The lag between consistent activity and consistent sales and customers is 3 to 6 months.

You need to keep a positive frame of mind.

But how?

Here are 3 key lessons I learned when starting out:

1. Celebrate the small victories

This can be anything as small as someone commenting on a post, answering a call, or replying to a text. Even if it doesn't go anywhere, it shows that people are starting to pay attention. There are plenty of winning steps before you make the sale, so celebrate them!

Remember, activity creates leads and leads create customers.

Don't be disappointed if a lead doesn't convert into a sale at first. You have to hear nos if you want to hear a yes! It's part of the sales process, and you should be happy you are moving past the first step of your sales funnel.

Secret 2

Keep Score

It is vital that you track your activity into leads and leads into sales.

This is how you get better at selling; if you don't track, you can't improve!

A few simple changes to your sales process can explode your results, so keep track!

And finally, Secret 3

Things will go wrong.

At first, you will be crap at sales (especially if you have no experience in selling). You will probably lose customers, you will screw things up from time to time, and it will feel like the end of the world.

Well, it isn't. I have firsthand knowledge of messing things up. As long as you deal with it, it will all work out okay in the end. The key is to own your mistakes and learn. Don't let them get you down!

I've lost count of how many times I've dropped a clanger. It's not as bad as it seems at the time; you will get through it.

If you're really switched on, I would recommend hiring a coach or finding a mentor. Doing this will greatly reduce the amount of mistakes you make and maximize your chance of building that business you've always dreamed of.
