When asks if you can tile the end of an island with a mitred return. We say why not?

How cool does this look! Bit of time getting the resin to match the pattern but worth it!

This was phase 1 of a renovation project at St Margaret of Antioch, Rottingdean. The majority of the work involved installing underfloor heating and then replacing the floor with Jura stone imported from Germany. The porch area floor was also renewed with quarry tiles. The renovation also included: removal of the Victorian pews and pew platforms; relocation of the font; construction of a new platform and ramp at the east end; installation of new audiovisual systems and new glazed doors between the porch and the main church. The Parker & Son team worked with architects Thomas Ford & Partners, Jupiter Underfloor Heating, GB Tiling Ltd and Walco Electric who provided specialist services.

The final pictures from our St Mildred’s church project for

This was a challenging project due to there being a few different sub floors to work on. Around 1/3 of the floor was on traditional like screed, meaning usual cementitious tile adhesive could not be used as it doesn’t bond well or allow the subfloor to breathe. This is very common in old buildings and especially churches. Luckily we have experienced this on other projects and always have a solution.

These areas were laid with lime and sand premixed and the church floor in its entirety was grouted with this keeping for a uniform and more importantly breathable jointing throughout the church.

The rest of the floor was on top of the ever perfect who as always prepare the floors to the millimetre. Makes our life so much easier.
# the stone itself was mainly purbeck limestone with a hammered option for the main ramp into the church. The surround of the ramp was bullnosed and dressed on site by us. This was all installed using Ardex x32 specified by the always so helpful and .uk we would go nowhere else and Danny really is the boy.

The entrance laid in beautiful rustic terracotta in keeping with the original floor and specified to be reinstated by the church and the heritage committee.

Great care was taken around the existing 700 year old pillars to keep tight and neat still allowing for expansion and the same to the gravestones some of which have been there for well over 400 years.

On the outside of the heating troughs was green limestone setting the border to the main floor.

We love doing these churches and are forever grateful for main contractors like Parker’s in putting there trust in us on these glorious and prestigious projects.

Finally professionally cleaned by the guys and girls another company amazing at what they do

Thanks to for the wonderful pictures and can’t wait to work with you again.

Well done to and the old man always putting a shift in everyday.

St Mildred’s works pictures!

It’s not often we get a professional photographer come to our projects. On this one however we was so lucky to meet the talented and lovely who we actually had the pleasure of installing a kitchen floor for on her very own project a year ago for

Fast forward to this project for and Ali is on site providing a snapshot of the process of the works throughout this project. Even of the best in the business for these specialist projects .uk

It was really cool having her on site and looking back of the photos of you working, I’ve never seen myself work in my whole career (some say I don’t anymore - mainly )

If anyone in Kent is looking for a professional photographer check out her page she’s amazing.

These are a few images we have been sent by Ali and some I have from the initial site visit with James from Parker’s through to us installing the gorgeous stone to this stunning church. Very proud to work with their team and on these projects šŸ¤šŸ»

Guest en-suite
In love with the green and beige combo in the guest ensuite on this project. All walls boarded prior to installation of tiles and bespoke seat made and tiled. Brushed brass trim to match the rest of the fittings in this room. Finished off with wood effect porcelain tiles to the floor.
