I also help people question their lives and search for answers to reasons why they are and where they are. After years of hard work and study, where I lived the good life and had everything I thought I needed, I was to lose everything. Due to someone I thought I could trust -
I lost my brand new luxury 4 bedroom house with less than five years of mortgage to pay. I lost all my money
I lost
the chance of purchasing a business I was keen on
I was reduced to 3 bed semi with a full mortgage and loans
I lost my health (Diabetes)
I found my debts had spiralled out of control
I lost my job servicing a major bank’s computer systems (redundant)
I lost my company car
I needed a new loan for a replacement car
The bank refused to pay out PPI
I lost my wife (She had found someone new)
I lost my trade (Electromechanical engineer, Obsolete, everything computerised)
Could not afford vet bills, lost my dog
Lost control of my legs (Unstable, effect of diabetes)
Unable to pay mortgage on the 3 bed semi
I lost my 3 bed house (I sold below market value rather than it be repossessed)
I lost the increased value of the house as house prices soared immediately after I was forced to sell
My family, living at home were made homeless so I lost my family
I found myself homeless living on the streets still with over £100,000 of debts
Even though I was in the job centre every day desperate for a job I lost my job seekers allowance
I received no government support so had no money for food
Lack of food lost me five stone and reduced me to a skeleton in four months
I lost any remaining possessions when they were trashed or stolen from the plastic horticultural tunnel where I had been sleeping
Eventually I was offered a flat and a job, I worked day and night and cleared my debts in five years. I had trained as a coach and had the opportunity to co-author a bestselling book to promote my coaching practice. I felt I had been in a storm and had found shelter, so created my website www.roughseasafeharbour.com I felt able to help other people move from the storms of life. However, when I was on the verge of success my starvation diet on the streets and the resulting problems eating, caught up with me. I was rushed into hospital for a laparotomy, where they cut open my stomach to try and solve the problem. Just as I had recovered from the operation, in the space of less than twenty minutes, I went from driving my car to total sight loss. Unable to see beyond my elbows to read or use my computer. Everything stopped, my work, my coaching, driving, photography, travelling, all my interests and hobbies and my income. Initially I spent my time listening to RNIB Talking Books which were brilliant as I love books, but I needed more, I started contacting and supporting carers for Worcestershire Association of Carers, and have continued contacting them every week for over fourteen years. I joined Toastmasters for five years, introducing public speaking to the local high school. I joined several volunteer groups, and clubs including public speaking to raise funds for the RNIB Talking Books, spoke to visitors at Avoncroft Museum of Ancient Buildings, Probus, (Resigned as chairman) U3A, the local history group, voted onto the town council, Trustee for Age UK. Eventually, with the aid of the charity ‘Sight Concern’ I learnt to touch-type and use new software for the blind to get back on my computer. I co-authored another best seller that reached number one in Canada, America, UK, and Australia, and published three books of my own. More eye surgery five years ago gave me a limited amount of vision and I am now back in the community
I came across a charity by the name of Mentor Link and started mentoring school children that had fallen behind due bullying or abuse. Became a Trustee for a run down community hall.
2019 I released the 2nd edition of my personal development book and republished one of my novels in 2021. I turned my life around completely, and although not being able to see properly is annoying, I don’t let it stop me. After nine months of training the pandemic ended my sponsored cycle ride the full length of the UK. Instead of cycling, I enrolled on a twelve month Public Speaking course to enable me to raise money for MentorLink with public speaking, I am presently creating a TEDx talk after completing the training. After working with mindset for sixty two years, i have developed a very strong mindset so have created a Mindset course to help people achieve their dreams. I transform students into high achiever's so they can reach their true potential. My tag line is "Championing Youth for a Better Tomorrow"
I have also created a Debt Management Course to help people learn how to take control of their finances. I am now enjoying my return to helping people and mentoring. With my natural interest in coaching and having experienced all the difficulties that life has thrown at me, I feel especially qualified to help other people that are experiencing the aftermath of a downfall and wish to raise themselves to new heights.
