This afternoon in the House of Commons Jacob Rees-Mogg MP and Leader of the House of Commons announced that driver training for all types of vehicle can recommence from July 4th 2020. Rees-Mogg also indicated that the government department responsible for training standards and testing would be writing to all the Approved Driving Instructors today outlining the processes involved for safe re-introduction of driving test and examinations for car, motorbike, trailers, buses, and large goods vehicles.
So far the detail has been limited, but we are promised more will follow in the coming days.
As far as cars are concerned Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has announced that learners can resume driving lessons and motorcycle training in England from Saturday 4 July 2020.
The rule applies to all types of driver and motorcycle training in England, including private practice with someone you live with or in your support bubble.
Theory tests will restart in England on Saturday 4 July. The tests will take place with social distancing measures in place to help stop the spread of coronavirus.
Car driving tests will restart in England on Wednesday 22 July, which will give those of you who have tests cancelled time to have refresher lessons and practice before taking your test.
I will be in touch again as soon as I know more, and will let you know what action I'll be taking to keep the car sanitised in order to minimise of any cross-contamination and to keep us safe.
