Founder’s life. Today someone asked me a question:
“As a fellow co-founder, what causes you the most stress about leading and inspiring others?”
Stress at work is a significant contributor to illness and depression — that is a fact.
My view is shaped by personal experience. Two years ago, I experienced severe depression that resulted in a four-month stay in a psychiatric hospital. That experience helped me truly understand how devastating workplace stress can be, especially when product, results, or growth are prioritised while the human factor is treated as secondary or overlooked altogether.
Stress increases when there is a lack of shared values and a clear vision communicated to everyone in the organisation.
This is one of the key reasons I decided to found my own company. Not just to focus on money or output, but to build a community — a living organism made up of different parts, each dependent on one another, each deserving care and respect.
Founder life undeniably brings a huge amount of stress. The difference, for me, is clarity of vision. When you truly know why you are building something, problems stop being stressors and become challenges — opportunities to learn and grow.
Vision changes perspective. Instead of standing in front of a wall that blocks your way, you find yourself sitting on top of it, able to see what lies beyond.
This is the perspective I want to embed in my company, and I am committed to finding practical ways to do so.
Thank you for raising this important conversation, Vaisey.
