I attended last night on The Somatic Nature of Trauma: How Trauma Disrupts the Nervous System, delivered by Dilara Özel Ph.D. at The Capstone Theatre, Liverpool Hope University

It was a reminder that trauma is not just something we think about, it is something our bodies can carry too.

The session highlighted how our nervous system has a direct impact on our emotions, behaviour, energy levels, relationships, and ability to function day to day.

When the nervous system is dysregulated, even simple tasks can feel overwhelming, which is why understanding the connection between mind and body is so important.

As a coach and trainer, it was valuable to revisit the science behind trauma and the role of the nervous system in recovery.

It reinforced the importance of approaches that help people feel safe, regulated, and connected, rather than simply focusing on thoughts alone.

Healing often starts with understanding what is happening in both the mind and the body.

Fun Sunday morning doing the Port Sunlight Double , a 5K followed by a 10K.

Glad it wasn't as hot today as it has been!

Events always remind me that resilience isn't about being the fastest or strongest.

It's about taking the next step, even when it feels uncomfortable, and it often does.

It's the same principle I use in my coaching. So often, the limits we place on ourselves come from our thoughts rather than our abilities.

With the right support, and small consistent actions, we can often achieve far more than we initially believe possible.

Progress isn't always about giant leaps, it's about taking the next step. If you're ready to move forward but aren't sure where to start, let's have a conversation.

Tuesday night, in the stifling heat, the committee met for the final time before next week’s awards.

It has been my first year on the committee, and what an incredible experience it has been. Reading the applications and hearing the stories of so many inspiring women has been both humbling and motivating.

There is so much talent, resilience, passion and determination across Cheshire, and I feel genuinely privileged to have played a small part in recognising and celebrating it.

I cannot wait to celebrate these amazing women and their achievements next week.
