To all the mums.
The would-be-mums,
gone-too-soon mums,
stand-in mums,
foster mums,
surrogate mums,
down-on-their-luck mums,
single mums,
single-dad mums,
stepmums,
grandmothers-raising-their-grandchildren mums.
The it-takes-a-village-to-raise-a-child mums.
And the grieving mums.

Happy Mother’s Day 💕

Christmas cards are so last year. Why not purchase a New Year’s card for a loved one or someone that you haven’t seen in a while and let them know that you’re thinking about them? These cards are available to purchase at Dugdale Arts Centre, 39 London Road, Enfield.

The backstory to my New Year cards is that back in 2013 I stopped sending Christmas cards and started producing New Year cards to send to clients and a few friends that I didn’t see often. I’ve never sold them. I however stopped producing them back in 2024 for personal reasons. This year I’ve decided to open some of them up to the public. There’s only a small amount of the white typographical cards available and when they’re gone - they’re gone. Thank you for all your support throughout the year. You’re the best xx

These illustrations were created as visual concepts for Crisis Comedy for Crisis marketing campaign last month. Digitally drawn, they were intended to show an alternative to using photography. The bottom illustrations show a slightly different style to my norm.

While bespoke illustration can be a powerful tool, it can also push budgets, so sometimes the best option is to work with existing assets and stick to more conventional approaches in order to keep costs down.

See my previous post for the final which was chosen by Crisis.

Designing the marketing look for this fundraising gem of an event for Crisis was genuinely uplifting. The campaign challenged me to find ways to elevate the materials while working within Crisis’ limited colour palette and brand fonts.

I decided to present an idea that would feel like a live stage event. The circular lights around the headline reference stage lights and backstage make-up mirrors, reflecting the pre-show buzz before performers step on stage. The hand-drawn laughing words add a playful touch that hints at enjoyment, while the warm red keeps everything energetic and rooted in Crisis’ brand.

The aim was to balance fun with professionalism, capture the spirit of the event, and clearly communicate the purpose of the fundraiser. The event was a real success and raised £25k for the charity. A huge well done to the team — I was totally honoured to be asked to work on the design.

Tomorrow I’ll share some illustrative alternatives that were also explored.

Following on from yesterday’s post, the first main event Croydon are holding in celebration of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, is a free music festival aptly titled Gladi Gladi which means ‘happy celebration’. Utilising the main green colour in the palette, the African-inspired zig zag pattern, and bespoke illustrations, helps you visualise what’s in store for the attendees. It promises to be a fabulous weekend.

Logo design and branding created for Croydon Council’s Culture department to celebrate 150 years since the birth of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.

A poet, composer, musician, educator and conductor, Samuel was born to an English mother and a Sierra Leonean father, and lived much of his adult life in Croydon. The colours and patterns used in the branding pay tribute to his Sierra Leonean heritage — a powerful nod to his roots and legacy.

Great design starts with clear thinking - and a little bit of chill. And I like to keep things crisp, whether it’s layouts… or lettuce. 😅 So here’s a little clip of me being a little silly with the old fridge challenge. It’s just for fun, but I do like to remind my followers that I’m a graphic designer first and foremost and an artist/illustrator second.

Mais Yeah!
Illustrating Johnny Dodds for the Mais Yeah! book cover was super fun! It’s colourful, vibrant, and full of energy - exactly what a cover should be when it’s channeling New Orleans and the jazz-soaked sounds of Mardi Gras. 🎷🎺🎉

My hero, Nelson Mandela, is not everyone’s hero. Take a look at what his fellow South Africans have to say about his quote on forgiveness when I posted this image to my TikTok profile. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNdP7MjJb/

20/20: Do you know about the Black woman who wouldn’t move to the back of the bus when a white person wanted her seat? With one quiet act of defiance, Rosa Parks sparked a civil rights movement. Her refusal to give up her seat became a symbol of courage and civil rights. Alabama, 1 December 1955.

19/20: We’re down to the final two in this series. and today it’s the one and only Nelson Mandela. I still remember being a young girl, learning about apartheid South Africa — and feeling so confused. How could a country in Africa be so deeply racist against its own people? My mind still boggles at the cruelty of it.

Mandela’s journey from prisoner to president is nothing short of extraordinary. His life is a powerful story of resilience, reconciliation and the fight for justice. He showed the world that forgiveness isn’t weakness - it’s one of the greatest forces for freedom. A true legend. And his legacy? It’ll inspire generations to come.
