Every older person has dreams that deserve to be lived, not just remembered.

For some, it’s feeling the sea breeze on their face with a trip to the seaside. For others, it’s taking a nostalgic journey on the Watercress Line, enjoying a traditional afternoon tea, or simply having the confidence to get out and enjoy life again.

As a home helper, my passion goes beyond providing care. I believe in creating moments, making memories, and helping people rediscover the joy of living. Whether it’s supporting gentle movement, building confidence, or making a long-held wish come true, every smile reminds me why I do what I do.

Age should never be a barrier to happiness, adventure, or making new memories. Because everyone deserves something to look forward to, and sometimes the smallest outing can mean the world.

This week has been full of exciting moments as a Home Helper! 💙 I’ve welcomed two new people to support, been working closely with social prescribers to help connect people with the right services, wrapped birthday presents to make someone’s special day even brighter, encouraged movement and wellbeing with a trip to the gym, and helped ensure important medical appointments were attended. It’s been a rewarding week of making a positive difference, one step at a time. Every little bit of support helps someone live more independently and with confidence. 😊

Being a home helper is so much more than just a job. ❤️ It’s about putting the needs of the people I care for first and making sure they always feel safe, supported, and valued.

As I prepare for my own holiday break, my priority is making sure everyone I support is well looked after while I’m away. They will be left with the care, support, and familiar faces they deserve, so I can enjoy my break knowing they are in good hands. 🙌

One of the most rewarding parts of this role is that the people we care for often become much more than clients—they become friends. This week, we took one lovely lady out for fish and chips on a Friday evening. She lives alone, and seeing her smile over such a simple treat was a reminder that it’s often the little things that make the biggest difference.

Caring isn’t just about helping with daily tasks; it’s about bringing companionship, kindness, and joy into someone’s life. I’m so grateful to be part of that. 💙

This week we’ve been out and about supporting our wonderful clients to stay active, social, and comfortable in the warm weather ☀️

From trips to the gym supporting fitness and wellbeing, to visits to care homes, canal centres, and garden centres, it’s been a busy and rewarding week helping people enjoy the things they love most 🌸🚶‍♀️

We’ve also been supporting hobbies, encouraging gentle movement, and making sure residents are staying cool, hydrated, and active during the warmer days 💧🌿

It’s the little things that make a big difference ❤️

Today I visited a lovely gentleman in his care home who is living with dementia. As part of my home help and companionship services, I visit people in their homes to provide company, conversation, and emotional support.

We spent time looking through family photographs together, talking about the countries he had visited, and sharing wonderful memories of his parents family, and sisters. We also enjoyed a cup of tea and some chocolate together, which brought lots of smiles and comfort.

Moments like these may seem small, but they can mean so much. Taking the time to listen, reminisce, and provide a friendly face can help people feel valued, less isolated, and connected to the outside world.

Every person has a story worth listening to ❤️

One of the greatest privileges of working in home help and care is becoming part of people’s lives during the moments that matter most. From celebrating milestone birthdays with wonderful clients and their families, to simply sharing laughter, stories, and special memories — it is an honour to be trusted in such personal moments.

This week has also reminded me that care is about so much more than day-to-day support. I have been entrusted with helping to find a suitable respite care home for a lady who is terminally ill, so that she can take some much-needed time to recover and recharge.

I truly do not take that trust lightly. Being asked to help guide such important decisions is a responsibility I am incredibly grateful for. It’s moments like these that remind me why compassionate, personalised care matters so much.

Caring for people is not just a job — it’s about being there for life’s celebrations, challenges, and everything in between 💜

This week at Inspire Home Help has been all about making a real difference 💛

I supported a lovely lady to attend her hospital appointment, followed by a well-deserved shopping trip to M&S Food Hall — because sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most.

For those who are unwell or living alone, cooking isn’t always easy, so I prepared a comforting roast dinner to make sure they had a proper home-cooked meal.

I’ve also been helping people stay active with a gym session focused on strength, enjoyed a relaxing trip to the nail salon, and most importantly, supported individuals to get out into the community and feel connected.

Sometimes my role is about going that extra mile — offering companionship, kindness, and support in ways that truly matter 💫
