I’m seeing so many posts saying that instead of sending Christmas cards people are going to donate the same amount to a charity.

But, I love sending and receiving a Christmas card as much as I love supporting charity. Why is it one or t’other?? Let’s face it cards will cost you buttons! (So slow clap to your donation!)

What if something as simple as the letter “F” lost you a sale, ruined your reputation and made you look, well….a bit silly?

Whilst mindlessly scrolling through social media yesterday I came across a post talking about this week’s lunar eclipse, pretty harmless right?

Until the sentence... “I always feel the sh*ts in the moon’s change of energy” stopped me in my tracks! Erm… ok then?? 😲

I realise we all make mistakes, we post in a hurry, we use our phones and our fat fingers get in our own way, so I’m not shaming the mistake made – sh*t happens😆 - but – it was a bit of a corker!

What if the post was a serious piece, aimed at attracting clients, promoting the author’s expertise on all things “moony”?

What if something similar happens to you when writing a really important proposal, research paper, legal document??

How well do you check your own content?

Checking our own text doesn’t always work – our brains are wired to see the words we mean to use, rather than those we actually use. But using an independent proof reader could remove all of the worry, stress and frankly embarrassment!

Let me tell you why I love my “job”

❤️ I love the variety of clients I have, I’m always learning new things because of them. Every day is a school day!

❤️ I love that my experience let’s me challenge clients, sometimes helping them avoid potentially damaging and disastrous situations.

❤️ I love the variety of tasks I get to carry out – from managing a chaotic diary, to setting up a monthly newsletter…and everything in between. No 2 days are the same.

❤️ I love that I can really make a difference to my clients – no matter how big or small that difference is. I have a client who can now walk the dog whenever he likes – guilt free. That makes him happy, which makes me super happy!

❤️ I love the passion my clients have for their business, seeing them achieving their goals is such a thrill.

“Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day again” has never been more true.

Well this is exciting…currently waiting for my train to London for a business trip.

After working virtually from a home office for the last 2 and a bit years, to actually meet up with a client face to face is quite the thrill.

After helping behind the scenes with preparations, I’m heading to the Karren Brady Women in Business & Tech Expo to support a lovely client on her stand, meeting and greeting her potential clients and letting them know all about her amazing business.

Being Virtual Executive Assistant doesn’t always mean being stuck behind a screen.

Sometimes no matter how much you trust your team, there is just some information that needs to be treated confidentially, for a restricted audience only.

If you have a board pack stuffed full of confidential financial detail, or need to prepare a report on restructuring a department, maybe even considering redundancies or have other sensitive HR information, what do you do? Do you really have time to work on this yourself?

I would recommend outsourcing to a freelance Executive Assistant, someone totally unbiased, with no vested interest in the information and someone who has years of experience of dealing with confidential situations.

But why would you trust a stranger? I’ll admit, it’s a risk. But I can assure you, Exec Assistants are experts in protecting your interests.

Personally, I’ve been in this game for over 20 years and have pretty much seen it all.

I’ve been privy to highly confidential, commercially sensitive details and treated this with the highest level of discretion.

Can we ever have it all??

A client of mine appears to have life nailed…

🔥 Successful business
🔥 Expanding chain of stores
🔥 Huge Insta following
🔥 Respect of her industry peers

…and a lovely warm, person to boot.

BUT

Behind the glossy pictures and posts, she was also…

😟 Burnt out
😟 Running on fumes
😟 Anxious and stressed
😟 Not spending quality time with her family and friends

She eventually realised something had to give before she keeled over completely and so, she reached out to me for some support.

Together we’ve come up with new streamlined processes for her business, organised her inbox and gained control over her, frankly, chaotic diary. To name a few simple, but life-saving, actions.

It’s only been a few short months, but she’s already seen the benefit of having experienced Exec Assistant support. She feels back in control, calmer and healthier, making time for herself to actually enjoy her success with the people that matter most to her.

Today is a momentous day for me.

Today I am officially without a boss.😮

Goodbye employee status, hello full time self-employment.

That’s right, I’ve gone solo. Eeeek! 😬

Last week I said “no” to new business and for a “girl who just can’t say no” – it was a tough call.

I am a people pleaser, I want nothing more to help and support people.

But I’m also extremely honest (sometimes too much so!)

But the truth was that I just wasn’t the right fit. The client has a fantastic product and needs someone with more experience in her niche area to make sure she gets the best possible outcome for her business.

Spouting false promises and blagging my way through a job just wouldn’t have been fair to the client or myself. It’s just not my style.

Sometimes when you “fake it until you make it” – you don’t make it and you end up causing damage not only to your client, but also your own reputation!

Honesty, authenticity and integrity are so important in my book.
