Northern Marine crew have been commended for rescuing three yacht sailors over Christmas after their vessel became disabled and adrift in the Atlantic Ocean. The yacht had experienced both engine failure and a broken sail in stormy conditions forcing the vessel to drift for three days before they were rescued. Read the full story at:

Many thanks to all our seafarer colleagues who attended recent Officer, Rating and Cadet seminars in Mumbai.

Senior management personnel from the United Kingdom and Mumbai joined the 172 seafarers at their respective events, delivering presentations and creating an opportunity to interact in a relaxed, face-to-face setting.
As well as operational and workforce strategies, safety, and industry vetting inspections, ‘Respect in the Workplace’ was one of the key themes covered at the event, held in the newly opened Fairmont Mumbai.
Captain Umang Gupta attended the Officer seminar and said: “The seminar was very well planned, organised, and presented. I thought the most important and beneficial topic was related to Respect in the Workplace and the prevention of harassment onboard. The reflective learning session on this was a great source of knowledge and will really help me enhance my crew management skills.
“We often communicate with office-based colleagues during day-to-day operations onboard via emails, but such face-to-face interactions at this event enhanced communication, built further trust and stronger relationships, and boosted collaboration and creativity.”
Following the seminar, an awards ceremony took place, where many employees, including Capt. Gupta, were recognised for their long service commitment to Northern Marine. There was also ample opportunity for attendees to socialise.
Kamya Pohuja, Assistant Training Manager, said: “My appreciation extends to our mariners, their spouses who support them, and even those who were unable to attend but remain equally valued.
“Company events provide a meaningful opportunity to engage with our seafarers and their families in person, beyond emails and phone calls. These interactions strengthen mutual understanding and reinforce the connection we share.”
Other Northern Marine seminar events took place in Europe and Asia earlier in the year, with more planned for the future.

Northern Marine Management (NMM) proudly supported a technically complex and strategically important project for Energos Infrastructure in Egypt involving the ‘Energos Power’ Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU).

The Energos vessel underwent modification works at the Tahya Misr berth in Alexandria Port before being relocated to the Sonker Bulk Liquids Terminal in Ain Sokhna earlier this month.

Now operational, Energos Power receives imported LNG, regasifies it, and injects it directly into Egypt’s national gas grid - enhancing system flexibility and ensuring supply stability during peak demand periods. In addition to managing the Energos Power’s technical operations, NMM was also tasked with supervising the integration of communication infrastructure with the terminal in Ain Sokhna.

Brian Bartlett, Chief Operating Officer, Energos Infrastructure, said: “Energos is proud to partner with Northern Marine Management to support our global FSRU operations. Their commitment and resourcefulness as a world-class ship manager enabled the rapid deployment of Energos Power to support Egypt’s critical energy needs.”

In June, Northern Marine Management marked three years since it began managing methanol-fuelled tankers. Operating methanol-fuelled vessels safely and efficiently requires a high level of technical understanding and operational discipline - areas where Northern Marine has quietly built a strong foundation.

“Our teams have approached this responsibility with the same care and professionalism that underpin all of our operations,” said John Cook, Ship Management Director at Northern Marine Management.

“We’ve taken the time to understand the unique characteristics of methanol as a fuel and have worked closely with our crews to ensure they are fully prepared and supported.”

Day of the Seafarer 2025 | Connection, Respect & Belonging at Sea

This 25 June, we proudly join the global maritime community in celebrating the IMO’s Day of the Seafarer and this year’s theme: “My Harassment-Free Ship.”

At Northern Marine, we believe that a respectful and inclusive shipboard culture is built through both policy and practice—and that includes fostering wellbeing, creativity, and connection among our crew.

To mark the occasion, we relaunched Northern Marine Has Talent, inviting our seafarers to share their artistic, musical, and poetic talents. The result? A celebration of self-expression and camaraderie that reflects the vibrant, respectful environments we strive to create onboard.

This initiative complements our wider efforts to promote respect at sea. Earlier this year, we conducted a Respect in the Workplace survey to better understand our seafaring colleagues’ experiences and identify areas for continued improvement. The insights are already shaping new actions—from education and training to enhanced support and reporting pathways.

“Respect in the workplace is about enabling everyone to operate at their full potential in a safe working environment.” - John Cook, Ship Management Director

We’re proud to stand with the IMO in building a future of respect at sea and proud of our crew for showing us what that looks like in action.
