WINNING WITHOUT FOCUSING ON WINNING....

After years of ultra competitive team sport that she never felt she aligned with as well as working in a male dominated industry this inspirational lady came to us to find a process that helped her feel the way she wanted to about her whole journey.
She wanted to understand how to use sport to drive her wider personal development and become a high functioning version of herself.
She has never prioritised performance or the domination of others. She simply focuses on applying our framework in her own way to keep growing into a better version of herself.
Unsurprisingly, her performance levels just keep going up and up. She has more potential to unlock, but this will come naturally as she continues to work on who she is rather than what she does.

UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR A SPORTS TEAM ⚽️🏀🏉🏑🏏🥍🏐🎽

WHAT IS IT?
Infinite Evolution & Passion Fit Coaching are offering one sports team a unique opportunity in 2024 and 2025.

THE GOAL:
Facilitate behavioural development of players (potentially coaches & leaders too) in such a way that they are guided to a higher functioning version of themselves, a version that is able to unlock ever higher levels of their potential both consistently and sustainably. This will improve team & individual performance, club culture and player & coach wellbeing.
The goal is not to be involved in the specific development of the team’s playing oriented process & tactical objectives.

HOW:
Engage with players (and coaches) using workshops, player 121s, small group engagements and virtual seminars leading to wider individual & team development using our unique behavioural coaching techniques, the same approach we use to develop Ironman Triathlon champions and corporate coachees. (Fitness coaching support also available, see below)

WHEN:
For the remainder of 2024 and 2025.

COST:
There will be no cost to the team we choose to work with.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?:
A team who compete at national league level, one tier below or equivalent competitive league. A hockey team is preferable as we have direct & extensive experience of this sport, so this removes some barriers to developing some of our understanding of the team’s needs, however teams in other sports will benefit significantly from the input we are offering.
A local team is also preferable as direct contact with players will be of high value. Local may mean up to 60mins travel time from our location in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
The team we work with can be a ladies or mens team, however, a ladies team would be preferable, reasons for this can be discussed in more detail on application, but the this feature is not essential.
A small number of players maybe be offered the opportunity to take advantage of our full coaching scholarship. Scholarship coachees receive the full service our client coachees receive.

ADDITIONAL SUPPORT:
As experienced team sport fitness coaches, personal trainers and endurance athletes we are also able to offer support with the development of the player physical conditioning. This support can be provided inline with the specific goals of the lead coaching staff of the team and focused on sport specific development. Players will also have the opportunity to be coached at our studio in Cheltenham as part of their fitness development.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR US?:
We will gain experience of applying behavioural coaching framework, already tested and proven with individual athletes as well as in team & individual corporate environments, to a performance focused sports team environment.

A-levels, stop talking about results!

As a sports & corporate coach, prospective employer, mathematician by education, and someone who found their true calling at 38 years old, I know how little your results exams matter.

Sometimes academic results will matter, but the disproportionate importance we put on results can be toxic. Many with great potential to make a difference lose their way before they have even started because they are made to believe, because of their results, they are not worthy. Some break themselves psychologically chasing outcomes. It is time for change.

So what do I believe matters?

- Initiative: not waiting to be told, looking for opportunities
- Curiosity: desire to build knowledge & understanding
- Duty & responsibility: not being entitled.
- Resilience: maintaining effectiveness
when things are not how you would like
- Ownership: not expecting others to make your life easier
- Passion: caring about making the world better for others
- Relentlessness: not quitting just because it doesn’t work first time
- Creativity: seeing opportunities others don’t
- Strategy: goal setting & developing a plan to get there
- Willingness to fail: knowing that failing is part of success
- Team compatibility: being yourself but in a way that strengthens the team
- Diversity: embracing your differences & learning how to make them valuable to the world
- Purpose: doing what matters to you
- Compassion: caring about the wellbeing of others & not judging
- Integrity: doing the right thing, not the easy thing
- Strength: being there for others when they need you
- Reliability: doing what you say you will
- Agility: adaptability to change
- Gratitude: knowing that sometimes just the gift of life should be enough
- Prioritising: knowing what do to & when
- Coachability: using experiences to develop all of the above

Ultimately I am looking for a desire to continually move towards becoming a higher functioning version of one’s self. This comes from what is learnt before an exam and the choices you make after. Great results may be something you achieve, but how you did, or didn’t get there, matters far more.

As a business owner, prospective employer, historic recruiter, and someone who did not find their true calling until I was 38 years old, I know how little your exam results matter.

I studied Maths, Physics & Economics at A-level, and then Maths at university, simply because others thought I should. I learnt very little that was of any use and was completely disengaged for 5 years. On leaving university I was employed by a big high street bank, I learned a lot of wonderful skills, but no one knew or cared about my academic achievements. I actually got offered the job from an individual I personal trained. I use my mathematical knowledge more now in the sports coaching element of my journey than I ever did in banking.

As an employer I have little interest in academic outcomes. Sometimes this will matter, but the disproportionate importance we put on results can be toxic for so many. Many young people who could do special things in the world lose their way before they have even started because they are made to believe, because of their results, they are not worthy. Some break themselves psychologically chasing outcomes. It is time we changed the narrative.

COMMITMENT LEVEL / COMMITMENT CONTINUUM PLACEMENT

There is no doubting that any accomplished & high functioning journey requires a level of commitment that will lead to consistent ex*****on of behaviours that result in appropriate action that subsequently takes us on a journey towards achieving our goals. Even if the behaviours themselves are the goal it is imperative that our level of commitment ensures sufficiently consistent adoption of the behaviours and the attitude that underpins our ability to choose them.

It could be argued that if we are not able to consistently sustain a sufficient level of commitment then perhaps the goals themselves & the underlying ‘why’ require reviewing.

We believe that individuals should be seeking to set goals that allow them to sustain their commitment continuum position at ‘committed’ or, ideally, ‘compelled’. Some days this will be harder to sustain than others, that does not automatically mean that you are unaccomplished, but if this occurs frequently then it is important to consider why.

Never forget that obsessive commitment levels are not accomplished of high functioning. In fact, obsession is almost always a toxic mindset to adopt and more often than not leads to a journey of self sabotage and disappointment.

Part of the Infinite Evolution coaching ideology is not to insist athletes find ways to force themselves to meet a certain level of commitment but to help them balance all the elements of their life journey so that their commitment level naturally flows and they avoid the unaccomplished ‘grind’ so many of us are led to believe should be the norm. An accomplished journey seamlessly integrates all aspect of your life so that you always find it easy to choose appropriate attitudes and behaviours.

10 steps to accomplishment & high function

1. Effective goal setting - the foundation of a high functioning journey. Getting this right creates a path with direction and purpose. Get it wrong and a journey may end before it has even begun

2. Passion - comes from knowing ‘why’. Motivation & dedication are driven by passion. Sometimes this is almost all that is needed.

3. Coachability - whether coached or self coached, being coachable facilitates progression & maximisation of opportunities

4. Skill & Knowledge - basics leading to forward movement on the chosen path towards higher function

5. Understanding - effective application of skills knowledge

6. Creativity - seeing the path ahead and visualising the opportunities in a way that leads to strategy

7. Environment - being in the right place and surrounded by the right people

8. Habit - consistent mediocrity trumps occasional brilliance every time

9. Latent ability - anything is not possible, many things are.

10. Agility - change is inevitable, sometimes change can be volatile, adjusting dynamically is critical

How to be fabulous every day!!!

1. 💛 Focus on BEHAVIOURAL DEVELOPMENT rather than performance improvement. Get the behaviours right and the performance will look after itself.
2. 🧡 Be SPECIFIC about which behaviours you need to develop. At Passion Fit and Infinite Evoltion we prioritise 4 core behaviours.
3. 🩷 Be COACHABLE. Understand what this means and how to own your coachability.
4. 💜 MEASURE PROGRESSIOIN and/or performance IPSATIVELY (relative to your start point and potential, not relative to others, societal expectation or arbitrary measures)
5. 💚 Understand how to judge your POTENTIAL. Potential is not just your latent ability. It is a combination of LATENT ABILITY, what you CAN do & what you WILL do. Never let anyone tell you “you are a waste of potential” just because unlocking 100% of your latent ability is not something you want to achieve.
6. 💙 INDIVIDUALISE your GOALS, make them PRECISE & SUITABLE for your own journey.
7. 🩵 Goals do not need to be ASPIRATIONAL to be effective, ATTAINABLE is just fine if that MOTIVATES you. But, avoid delusion goals.
8. 💛 Focus on goals that ADD VALUE to the world you influence and not just you.
9. 🧡 TRACK your progression in detail. At best this creates motivation, at worst it allows you to review and redirect.
10. 🩷 MOTIVATION comes from getting the nine steps above on point, but remember, sometimes motivation needs reigniting through deliberate DEDICATION.
11. 💜 MICRO MANAGE your behaviour and actions. We have been conditioned to dislike this term because micro management has too often been used as a tool to control and dominate, but accomplished individuals and teams do this intuitively and WITHOUT TOXICITY. In fact, when done appropriately it leads to increased motivation or, as a minimum, dedication and effective prioritisation.
12. 💚 REDUCE STRESS by avoiding actions and circumstance that lead to increased VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity). Even actions you think will be value adding and relaxing often lead to unnecessary VUCA (e.g. for some, a family holiday). Pressure is needed to grow, but stress can be destructive.
13. 💙 Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that knowledge is power. Don’t be a self help ju**ie. Unless you are a quizzer, knowledge is not enough. UNDERSTANDING that leads to INTUITION and CREATIVE strategy development is POWER.
14. 🩵 OWN IT. It is your journey. No one else is responsible for how FABULOUS you are.

🎯 Focus vs presence 💭

Focus is often talked about as critical component of a high functioning journey. Developing the ability to remain focused and ‘in the zone’ allows individuals to avoid becoming distracted in such a way that they make unforced errors, slow their progression or allow their performance level to drop.
There is no doubting that focus matters and contributes to an individual’s ability to unlock their potential and achieve great things. However, at Infinite Evolution & Passion Fit Coaching, we believe that it is ‘presence’ that we should ultimately be striving for.

How does presence differ from focus?

Well simply put, we believe this….

Focus is about not being distracted from the task in hand and staying ‘on target’, it is about using chosen data streams to keeping moving toward a specific goal. Focus is about not allowing an opportunity to slip away through varying levels of concentration.

Presence is about agility and awareness. It is about seeing new opportunities that expand your pathway towards goals you were previously unaware of. It is about all the data streams and the ability to filter the information which will add value from that which will not. It is about clarity when others are confused. It is about vision and seeing beyond the plan. Presence is about the inches nobody else can see. It is the plays within the plays. Moments within the moments. Presence is simultaneously being nowhere else and every all at once. Aware of everything but distracted by nothing.
